Disney animated goes up against Disney live action

Disney+live+action+and+animated+films+are+all+good.+

Sydni Scherr

Disney live action and animated films are all good.

Three Disney movies that are both animated and live action are Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, and Cinderella. I’d like to look at the difference between live action and animated, then I’ll decide which one is better.

Animated: Who does not like the classics? This is where children can learn life lessons and escape reality into a world of imagination. Every kid knows when it is in cartoon form there is no such thing as bad endings, only happy endings. When it comes to the villains in Disney movies, it makes them not so scary to the kids because they are not put into real life scenarios. Everything is happy and there’s something to learn.

Belle, from Beauty and the Beast, learns to forgive and not judge a book by its cover along with the help of a talking teacup named Chip. Jasmine, from Aladdin, learns that there is more to life than being all pampered in riches and royalty with the help of a genie from a lamp. Then lastly, Cinderella learned that dreams do come true if you put your mind to it also with the help of talking mice Jaq, and Gus, and of course a fairy godmother. With this being said the animated version has more of a fairy-tail twist to the movie.

Live Action: Who does not like it when things are put into a little more real life perspective? This is where parents, guardians, and children can enjoy a Disney together. This isn’t always the most kid-friendly because the events are put into a real life world. The beast from Beauty and the Beast, looks more scary because of his sharp teeth and snarl. But this also carries a bigger message because it really puts a huge emphasis on the whole do not judge a book by its cover theme. Then in Aladdin, Jafar looks more like a normal person rather than a bad guy, and it shows kids that maybe you should not trust everyone you meet right away. But I do have to say Will Smith played an awesome genie maybe could not have anyone better. Then lastly, Cinderella shows that some stepmothers are awful and the apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree when it comes to her daughters. With all of thatbeing said, live action has more elements of being realistic rather than the animated versions.

Disney movies, whether they are animated and or live action, are awesome movies. They both have a lot of differences but a lot of the same as well. In my opinion “May I get a drum roll please”……. Animated will always have my heart because that is what I grew up on and learned my morals.

Axel is the dog of Maya Workman. Maya is a senior at Sartell High School. Axel is a half Old English and half English bulldog. He is three years old and is a very happy and playful pup, but he can have a lazy side.  He loves to lay wherever is comfiest for him and sleeps for hours on end. They got Axel because Maya’s aunt is a dog breeder and was having puppies.  He was a Christmas present for Maya’s older sister Tina and is a great family-friendly dog. Maya’s family loves having him around to always lighten the mood when he is being goofy.

He was my favorite Christmas gift. ”

— Tina Workman

Maya’s favorite thing to do with Axel is go for walks. Maya will walk him while she rides her bike. Axel loves to get outside and roll around in the grass and run around with Maya. After Axel gets all of his energy out, he goes inside and snuggles up on Maya’s parents’ bed and gets all the love and attention a dog could need.

He like looks fat but he’s muscular and like lowkey fat.”

The great pleasure of a dog is that you may make a fool of yourself with him and not only will he not scold you, but he will make a fool of himself too.

Zoey is the dog of Allie Benoit.  Allie is a senior at Sartell High School. After graduation she plans on joining the army.

Zoey is an Australian Shepherd blue heeler mix, she has a sweet and wild side. Zoey can be very rambunctious but is the most loveable, sweet dog you’ll ever meet. They got her in May of 2016 because they wanted a friendly family pet. Allie and Zoey are practically attached at the hip; they are each other’s best friends.

A dog is more than just a dog. She is family and your built-in best friend. If I got one wish it would be for everyone to be able to have a dog as amazing and loving as Zoey.”

— Allie Benoit

Zoey loves to be outside and play fetch with her frisbee.  She also loves to take car rides with Allie with the windows down and her head out the window. Her favorite activity of all is play fighting.  She likes to get rough and can play for hours on end. She is a very happy energetic dog and is friendly to everyone she meets.

Hannah and Holly's dog Bella loves to snuggle with people, especially in a fuzzy, warm blanket.

Today’s featured pup is Princess Bella. She is a teacup Yorkshire terrier and is the puppy of Hannah, Holly, and their mom, Lisa Wolff. They named her Princess Bella because she acts like a princess and gets what she wants. They got Bella as a puppy for Easter in 2013. Bella has a very upbeat and vibrant personality; she is the sweetest. Bella will roll over for anyone; she loves her belly rubs. Hannah is a freshman at St. Ben’s and is majoring in architecture. Holly is a freshman at Mankato State and is going to major in nursing. Bella is everyone’s best friend and will give you lots of kisses.  She also has a brother named Miko; they love to play fight with each other.

She’s my tubby princess!”

— Lisa Benoit

In Bella’s free time she loves to get her belly rubbed and play tug of war with any of her favorite toys. She loves to go for boat rides on the pontoon, and swim in her doggie life jacket. Bella loves all the attention.  She will even get jealous if you choose to pet Miko over her.

Bella’s favorite friend in the house would have to be Lisa; they are attached at the hip. Lisa loves to spoil Bella and even makes the dogs homemade food and buys them different outfits for different seasons. Lisa even bought Bella stairs that go up to the bed so Bella is able to crawl into bed with her at night.

A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than you love yourself!

On this week’s edition of the Sartell Doghouse, we are introducing Sochi. Sochi is a Yorkshire Terrier and is the dog of Abby, Jodi, and Rico Aizcorbe. Abby is a senior at Sartell. Sochi has a more lazy and laid back personality. Sochi was named after the 2014 Olympics so her family wouldn’t forget what year the got her.

In Sochi’s free time, she loves hanging out with her sister Emma, basking in the sun, and laying anywhere in the house that fits her standards of comfiness.

Sochi loves her mom Jodi; she followers her all around the house and never leaves her side. A very trusty dog! Sochi’s mom even lets her sleep on her bed with them at night. Sochi wakes her mom up every morning around 6am to eat and go outside. Sochi is on her own schedule.

I’m glad I did not get divorced after I brought home the dog haha, she fits very well in our family and I couldn’t have asked for a better companion.”

The Sartell Doghouse was created to allow students of Sartell to show their beloved pets to the rest of the school. Since it began as a feature in fall of 2017, 40+ pets have been featured as a part of the Sartell Doghouse.

For the 16th and final edition of the Sartell Doghouse, Wrigley Weno takes the stage. Wrigley is a 10-month-old Golden Doodle, and he is a part of senior Matt Weno’s family.

Matt Weno

Wrigley is a very friendly pup, and he loves to meet new people, playing with other dogs, cuddling his humans.

Wrigley, aka “Wrigs,” loves to cuddle anyone, but he especially loves to snuggle up with his mom and big sister. When Wrigley isn’t in cuddle-mode, he loves to play tug of war with his favorite stuffed rhino. Wrigley is still learning the ropes of the big world that he lives in, and he has almost mastered the art of fetch.

Wrigley became a Weno in September of 2018, after Matt and his sister had spent years begging for a dog. Now that Wrigley is a part of the family, he never fails to put a smile on his family members’ faces when they come home from work or school.

Matt Weno

In the fall, Wrigley will have to adjust to life without his big brother as Matt goes off to college. Before Matt leaves for college he would love to be able to tell Wrigley how much he means to the family and that he will be missed.

I will miss Wrigley a lot next year, however, it will be very fun to see him when I come home to visit.”

Louie was born on January 13, 2018, and before he became an official member of the Brinkman family, his big sister Olivia remembers a time when the household could be described as, “quiet, calm, and relaxing.”

However, once Louie was brought home, everything changed! Louie, sometimes called Loubear by his family, has a very goofy and playful personality. Louie loves to destroy blankets, eat treats, squeak his toys, and jump around the house.

When Olivia was asked if she would miss Louie next year when she starts college, she answered, “Yes, I will miss him a lot; he is a bundle of happy energy.”

This week's SHS Doghouse features Kona Arneson, who belongs to freshman Emma Arneson.

The Sartell Doghouse is a weekly article that allows the students of SHS to flex their pets to the rest of the school by sending in pictures to The LeSabre.

This week’s edition of the Sartell Doghouse is all about Kona Arneson! Kona is a year-and-a half year old yellow-black lab mix, and she belongs to freshman Emma Arneson. Kona has a bright and bubbly personality, and her personality reflects her name because she was named after Kona Coffee.

In Kona’s free time, she loves to catch popcorn, play fetch, get stuck around trees, and cuddle her big sister in the bed at night.

She gets stuck around a tree, a lot. ”

— Emma Arneson

Although Kona is a sweetheart, she also has a sassy side. Emma remembers a time when Kona ate her favorite blanket.

At the end of the day, Kona always brightens her family’s day. Emma lovingly stated that her favorite part about Kona is,

Seeing her face when I come home.”

— Emma Arneson

Whether Kona sits on her family member’s face to wake them up, or if she tries to distract her sister when she’s doing homework, Kona always finds a way to make her family smile.

This week’s featured pup is Rico Bagley. Rico was born on October 8th, 2018, and he became a member of the Bagley family soon after. Rico “the fatman” belongs to junior Madison Bagley and her family.

Although he is extremely loving and has good intentions, Rico’s boyhood occasionally shows. He loves to play tug of war, run around, and make messes for his sister to clean up. Rico’s sister, Madison, remembers a time that Rico was especially naughty and decided to make lunch out of his own dog bed.

Aside from Rico’s rambunctious personality, Rico’s love for his family helps him fit right in at home.

The Sartell Doghouse is a weekly article that allows the students of SHS to flex their pets to the rest of the school by sending in pictures to The LeSabre.

This week’s edition of the Sartell Doghouse presents Reggie Klehr. Reggie is a 12-year-old “Pugador” (pug and lab mix) and he is part of junior Rachel Klehr’s family. Reggie was born on April 16th, 2006, and he became a Klehr on May 29th, 2013. Reggie was adopted from the Humane Society when he was two years old and has since nuzzled his way into the hearts of his new family members. In his free time, Reggie likes to snack on Bacon Strips, sleep, go for walks, and watch movies with his family. Reggie is also an outdoorsman, and he enjoys going to the dog park, camping, and going on road trips.

Although Reggie is a sweetheart, he also has a few vices. According to Rachel, Reggie likes to be the star in the room, and he also likes to follow his humans around and steal food whenever he gets the chance. Rachel explained Reggie’s bad habits, “He stands in the way of everyone in a small space, and he basically walks on your heels until you give him some of your food off your plate.”

If Rachel could communicate with her BFF Reggie, she would ask him, “Do you really have to sleep all day?”

Overall, Reggie is a great friend to Rachel and her family during the good times and the bad. Ever since he left the Humane Society in 2013, he has made himself at home. From Reggie’s “old man” like personality to the way that he cuddles his humans when they are sad, Reggie truly completes the Klehr family.

He’s there when you need him”

The Sartell Doghouse is a weekly article that allows the students of SHS to flex their pets to the rest of the school by sending in pictures to The LeSabre.

This week’s featured pet is Spud Gohmann. Spud Gohmann is a three-year-old Persian-Himalayan cat, and he belongs to sophomore Ethan Gohmann.

Spud’s name was chosen because Ethan Gohmann says that Spud had the “coloration of fried potatoes, like hash browns” when he was a kitten.

When he was younger, he had the coloration of fried potatoes, like hash browns.”

— Ethan Gohmann

Spud can be described as sassy, outgoing, and spunky. He likes attention, cuddling with his sister, talking, and catching his humans feet as they walk around. Spud displays his adventurous side during deer season when he sometimes likes to follow his humans to their deer stands.

Ethan Gohmann

According to Ethan, the most rewarding part of being a cat owner is being able to have a buddy to hang with during snow days and the dog days of summer.

Kristin Martens

The Sartell Doghouse is a weekly article that allows the students of SHS to flaunt their pets to the rest of the school by sending in pictures to the LeSabre

This week is the second-to-last edition of the Sartell Doghouse for this school year. The special pup to be featured on this edition is Cooper Fenway Martens. Cooper is an eight-year-old Labradoodle, and he belongs to junior Kristin Martens. Cooper’s talents include chewing on tennis balls, fishing at the lake, and singing along to piano music. In his free time, Cooper loves to play with his squeaky tennis ball. Cooper has a very laid back personality, so he would most likely wear a relaxed style of a t-shirt, tennis shoes, and jeans.

Cooper has been with the Martens family ever since Kristin’s mom and sister discovered him during a visit to a breeder an hour away from their home. Once Cooper was brought home, the rest of the family was surprised because the intention of the trip was never to bring home a puppy. Little did the Martens family know, they had just brought home the “love of our lives.”

Cooper’s Photo Album

Cooper was born on March 11, 2009. He likes to celebrate by sneaking cheese sticks and going on the furniture when his parents aren’t looking.

The Martens have been with Cooper through sickness and health, literally! Kristin’s sister once ran over Cooper in her car, and as a result, he had a fractured foot and had to wear a cone.

— Kristin Martens

To the Martens family, Cooper is not only a dog, but a family member. Kristin says he is, “the love of our lives.”

If Kristin could communicate with Cooper she would tell him, “he is the most awesome dog I’ve ever met and also to go on the couches more often when the parents aren’t home!”
