St. John’s swimmer Carter Larson shares insights on college sports

All-American swimmer Carter Larson gives his insights on the college experience and the challenges that come with it.

Carter Larson was a state champion his senior year. During the 2020 COVID year, Carter faced challenges to get to the state meet. He had to learn to overcome them and make it. However, he tells us that a true challenge in college is time management.

Well, yeah, that’s something that a lot of people struggle with, but people pretty quickly adapt normally iff their sport is pretty busy and they have a tough class schedule. For me, it was just after the first couple of weeks, I figured out how to get my homework done.

During college, Carter was unaware of the problem that most athletes face. That problem is time management. He was ready for the college swimming aspect of college, but not for balancing swimming and school work. He wanted to challenge himself physically. He would recommend sports in college for those who want to push themselves physically as well.

Meeting with Carter was a great time. He gave some very insightful thoughts on the college athletics scene. It’s not very often that you will hear from an athlete that enjoys the struggles of college sports. He did recommend students who are into challenging themselves physically to try college sports.

If you don’t want to push yourself physically, I would not recommend doing it. But it’s a great experience to meet some lifelong friends. It’s a lot of work but it’s fun.
