Teacher of the Week: Mrs. Cantore

This week’s teacher of the week is Sartell High School’s very own business teacher, Mrs. Cantore.

Although she moves from class to class, Mrs. Cantore can often be found in rooms W102 and W104. She teaches various subjects, including personal finance, business law, business economics, agricultural economics, and sports and entertainment marketing.

Students often wonder how and why our favorite staff members chose their profession, and how they balance it with family, hobbies, and more.

Mrs. Cantore was asked a series of questions about her life as a Sartell High School teacher, and the following paragraphs feature her responses!

While she originally intended to become a veterinarian, Mrs. Cantore was inspired to become a teacher after her agriculture professor took her under her wing and made Mrs. Cantore feel like her kid. She says she wants to do the same for other students here at SHS. She and her agriculture teacher are still close friends to this day.

Mrs. Cantore attended New Mexico State University and got her degree in agricultural and extension education, with the goal of becoming an agriculture teacher.

She received her background in business after working at her in-laws’ family business. She is currently attending St. Mary’s to obtain her master’s degree.

Despite what the myth may say, teachers do not live at school. So what does our favorite business teacher do after hours?

Outside of school, Mrs. Cantore engages in a wide variety of hobbies, including chicken farming, spending time outdoors, fishing, watching hockey, having campfires, and traveling through MN!

Q: If you could teach any subject here at SHS, what would you choose?

A: Animal science, plant science, or biotechnology.

Q: If you weren’t a teacher, what would be your alternate career?

A:  I would be a farmer, with my chickens and maybe some bunnies.

Q: What is a quote that you live by?

A:  I live by a lot, but a good one would be  “Give it your best shot.”
