The COVID Diaries: Entry 17
I’m Back!! Listen, I know I told you that entry 16 was the end, but COVID is clearly here to stay, and so am I.
Welcome back to the COVID Diaries.
Today is a great day, and let me tell you why. Even if you are having a bad day, just take a minute to think about what you are blessed with. Studies show that counting your blessings at least once a week can drastically increase happiness.
For me, I am so thankful that the sun came up today. Not that I was expecting it not to, but I’ve realized that we tend to take things for granted. For example, my parents are still married and love each other after 26 years. I sometimes forget that that is not super common in our society, and I am so grateful for their commitment to one another.
I am also thankful for coffee. Oh how I love love love a hot cup of coffee. It gets me out of bed in the morning and is often one of the best parts of my day.
Another thing that I think I take for granted is this incredible country that I am lucky enough to call my home. I am so grateful to be an American. I think there are a lot of people in the United States who don’t appreciate what it means to live in this country. We have freedoms that do not exist in other parts of the world and a lot of people do not realize that.
So today, challenge yourself to find at least three things you can be thankful for, even if today is just not your day, try to find the good. You can do it! Have a great day 🙂
P.S. here is some more research about how to be more optimistic!
