This week I will be starting off with a short introduction and then moving into interviewing Jimmy’s Pour House workers about why you should work there because everyone that starts never leaves.
Jimmy’s Pour House started in 1977 in Sauk Rapids as a small family business which was ½ the size the restaurant is now. The owners are siblings that used to live in the small apartment right above the restaurant. They have been working there with their parents since they were teenagers getting paid minimum wage. Dena, the daughter of the first owner, purchased Jimmy’s in 1989 from her parents. They remodeled the place later on and added a bigger kitchen, a new bar, a patio, and doubled in size. Just last year, Dena’s brother Dan became a part owner of Jimmy’s. The apartment upstairs is now just a storage room for decorations.
Sawyer Timmer an SHS senior has worked at Jimmy’s a little over a year now. She started there as a host and later moved up to an expo. That means that she grabs the food from the kitchen window and delivers it to the tables. Everyone’s always very excited to see her coming! Sawyer stays at Jimmy’s because the people are awesome. She says the staff are amazing and very friendly.
Mylah Lukason a SRRHS sophomore, has worked at Jimmy’s Pour House for about a month now. She is a host who seats the customers and cleans up the tables. She said she would rate the work environment a 10/10 because she loves it so much! She said she would definitely recommend everyone to work there. I asked Mylah what her favorite part about working at Jimmy’s is and she said…
Lahria Andrew a SRRHS sophomore is keeping the family business going by being the owner’s niece. She has worked there since January of this year. Her favorite thing about working there is the money she makes. As a teenager learning to do things on her own that means a lot. Her position is also a host. I asked if she would recommend others to work there and she said absolutely.
Ella Kirchner an SHS senior, is a expo at Jimmy’s who gets the food ready to go out to tables and sometimes runs it out for the servers. Ella has been working there for about a month now. When asked if she would recommend others to work there she said “Yes!!!!!!”
She said she would rate the environment a 9/10.
Mara Wahlin is a senior at CHS and has been working at Jimmy’s for about four months. She is a host there but is hoping to move up to expo soon. She would rate the environment there a 10/10 because everyone’s always really nice. She said she would recommend others to work there because it is a good way to meet new people.
Janae Nichols is a twenty year old server at Jimmy’s. She has been serving since she started in May but is now moving up to bartending occasionally. Janae said the environment is a 10/10 and a great place to work. She would definitely recommend others to work there.
Kendra Carlson is a junior at SRRHS. She started working there in December 2023 and has been loving it ever since. She started with hosting and just recently moved up to expoing. She said she would rate the work environment a 20 just because of how friendly everyone is, how clean and organized it is, and the customers for the most part are very nice. She would recommend everyone to work there whether you are starting your first job hosting or are more experienced and want to serve or bartend, she thinks it’s all great.
Elizabeth Jarnot has worked there since February of this year. She recently graduated from SHS and is taking a break from working there for her first year of college. She was switching off hosting and expoing. She said she would rate the environment at Jimmy’s Pour House a 10/10. I asked if she would recommend others to work there and she said yes, absolutely.
Lillian Piotrowski just graduated from SRRHS and is also taking a break from working there during her first year of college. She has been working at Jimmy’s almost two and a half years. She got hired there as a host, later moved up to expoing, and ended as a server. Her favorite part about working there are the employees. She said everyone made it better and the pay was also really good for someone who was only 17. She would rate the environment a 7/10 because it would get super stressful and the customers can be mean, but she added it’s not like that every day.
