Cameron Schreifels: St. John’s swimmer talks about Sartell high school

Cameron Schreifels was a Sartell athlete who made the state meet his senior year for swimming.

In high school, he was a freestyle swimmer. He made it to the MIAC meet his freshman year at St. John’s University swimming backstroke. He was a very dedicated athlete at Sartell and just as much so at St. John’s University.

It’s something that I’m very glad I did. It makes it easier to adjust to college. It keeps me busy and when I’m busy, I do better in school.

— Cameron Schreifels

Cameron was struggling with adjusting just as much as any other first-year student. He says his success in school was thanks to the team. He was able to have teammates who would help him study and make sure he had grades that would allow him to compete. His teammates were also there for him when he was struggling to adjust to college.

We asked everyone at the end what it means for them to be a Sabre.  Cameron’s answer was very insightful. He believes that it means to not be afraid to fail, to be an outstanding person, and to accept failure. Cameron was very fun to be around in high school and still is now.
