Masoomeh was taken into police custody after reportedly taking her Hijab off in class then later located on school security cameras. After Masoomeh was arrested, she was later released and treated in the hospital for severe vaginal tears. Masoomeh died later after treatment and her mother wanted the report on Masoomeh’s rape and arrest, but when she tried to get those reports, they were never recorded or the government refused to give her one.

Masoomeh’s death sparked many riots and protests along with many other deaths and similar cases with the “Modesty Police.” Protests have spread to over 140 cities in Iran although it is believed 700 lives have been taken by the government in Iran due to these protests and acts against their views.
