Grandpa’s Pumpkin Patch is open for its last season at its original location in St. Joseph, Minnesota, so make sure to go check it out before the 2022 season ends!

This pumpkin patch has a special place in my heart because I have been coming here almost every year since I was four years old. Grandpa’s Pumpkin Patch has been running for 32 years, thanks to Dick and Elaine Hanson. These two are so very friendly and will gladly make you feel welcome when visiting.

When starting your journey here, something that is very noticeable is the set-up, decorated spot for pictures. Each year, it has been customized differently and is a great spot to capture a fall family or friends picture. Grandpa’s Pumpkin Patch also has a play area for kids, tree swings, and a chicken coup.

Moving onto pumpkins, they provide pumpkins already picked from the field area or you can hunt for your own perfect pumpkin in the field area yourself! Not only does Grandpa’s Pumpkin Patch sell regular pumpkins, but they also sell pie pumpkins, gourds, squash, straw bales, Indian corn, corn shucks, and locally made honey.

Grandpa’s Pumpkin Patch has also been recognized as one of “The 7 Best Pumpkin Patches in Minnesota!” in an article by Trent Jonas in Best Things Minnesota. As mentioned earlier, 2022 is the last year of Grandpa’s Pumpkin Patch being at its current location, but starting in 2023, Grandpa’s Pumpkin Patch will be hosted west, right across the road by J.R. Studniski.

Dick and Elaine are retiring from their years of doing Grandpa’s Pumpkin Patch, and I just want to say thank you for creating a pumpkin patch that somehow feels like home and one that has been so welcoming for me. Dick and Elaine have brought so many smiles to peoples faces from this place, and I feel glad and very grateful to have experienced Grandpa’s Pumpkin Patch.

The address is 36282 Co Rd 2, St. Joseph, 56374 currently, and here is a map showing how to get there from Sartell High School:
