This year’s new Bath & Body Works fall collection

I smelled all of this year’s fall candles and here’s what I thought…

I love Bath and Body Works candles. I have bought quite a few in the last couple of years.

Bath and Body Works is well known for their fun seasonal candles. This fall, they released a new collection of spicy, earthy, and fruity scented candles.

I’d have to say that this wasn’t my favorite year of fall fragrances. I didn’t entirely feel like they captured the fall essence. When I Imagine fall, I think of warm, cozy, and spicy scents. This collection had a lot of fruity and earthy notes, and not a ton of pumpkin and cinnamon.

                   Vampire Blood

The fragrance notes are: red berries, night blooming jasmine, and plum. (Fair use photo by Bath and Body Works)

When I first smelled this one, I was surprised by how fruity it was. It smelled like a very fresh strawberry, which makes sense considering their first key note on the list is blood red strawberry. I would honestly prefer this as a lotion or body spray instead of a candle. So it’s a good thing they sell this scent in basically every product they have at Bath and Body works. They even have it as a lipgloss.

Ghoul Friend

The Fragrance notes are: dark strawberries, ghostly peony, and spine chilling citrus. (Fair use photo by Bath and Body Works)

I couldn’t quite figure out what I was smelling with this one. It almost smelled like flowers and grapes which doesn’t make sense because there are no grapes in its key notes. I think this candle would smell better lit, but I didn’t want to buy it to test that.

                        Apricot and Green Fig

The fragrance notes are: apricot, sandalwood, lush fig, and creamy coconut. (Fair use photo from Bath and Body Works)

This one was odd. I thought it smelled a bit like eucalyptus but also woodsy, but eucalyptus is not a part of their key notes, so I’m not sure why I smell it. I did like this one, but as an end of fall fragrance. It reminds me of when all the leaves have all fallen off and the snow is about to start coming.

Leaves

The fragrance notes are: crisp red apple, golden nectar, and warm clove spice. (Fair use photo from Bath and Body Works)

I immediately thought of my grandparents house during Thanksgiving. It smells like it should be a soap though, not a candle. I don’t think I would want my whole house to smell like this.

                         White Pumpkin

The fragrance notes are: gingered white pumpkin, caramel glaze, and warn blended spices. (Fair use photo by Bath and Body Works)

This was the only one I actually would have bought. It smelled just like a Starbucks Chai Latte and made me think of fall. I want to curl up in a blanket and watch the leaves fall while this candle burns in my house. I think that this fragrance captures exactly what I think of when I picture fall.

Pumpkin Pecan Waffles

The fragrance notes are: maple syrup, golden waffles, pumpkin spice, and brown sugar. (Fair use photo. from Bath and Body works)

I didn’t really like this one to be completely honest. It smelled like a very cheap candle with not a whole lot of fall essence to it. It kind of just smelled like syrup in a way. My friend even went so far to say it smelled as if a child had made it. I think that speaks volumes on its own.

                 Walk in the Woods

The fragrance notes are: forest cedar wood, crisp patchouli, and dark peppercorns. (Fair use photo from Bath and Body Works)

This one kind of smelled like a spicy cologne. I could definitely see a man wearing this as a cologne in the fall or winter. I liked this one a lot, because it smelled very familiar to me. I’m pretty sure my dad used to wear something that smelled like this. I would definitely buy this just for the comfort of nostalgia.

Sweater Weather

The fragrance notes are: fresh sage, juniper berry, aromatic eucalyptus, and fresh woods. (Fair use photo from Bath and Body Works)

It reminds me of going outside and getting a whiff of the crisp cold air. It’s a really good candle for the beginning of fall. It is a very fresh smell, and I really liked it. However, I feel like I would get sick of it very fast. It’s the type of candle that you would bring out for a week, just to get you in the fall spirit, and then switch to something else.

Spiced Pumpkin and Patchouli

The fragrance notes are: rich pumpkin, warm patchouli, and a touch of cinnamon sugar. (Fair use photo from Bath and Body Works)

The name of this one is a lie. It does not smell like spiced pumpkin at all. It should just be named Patchouli because that was all I could smell. Maybe you have to light it to smell the pumpkin, but I tried smelling it over and over, and all I got was flowers. “Rich” pumpkin is false advertisement, so don’t be fooled by it.

Overall, I felt like this year was very mediocre. Considering there was only one candle that I’d even want to buy. I’d like to say that Bath and Body Works better bring their A game to their holiday selection.
