The 148th Kentucky Derby was held Saturday in Churchill Downs.
The first leg of the Triple Crown in horse-racing was won by the least odd horse.
The biggest long shot in the 20 horse field, was Rich Strike and this horse ended up coming through the finish line first. Rich Strike wasn’t even supposed to be in the race until Friday, but got into the race as an alternate after a horse dropped out of the race.

As they came to the final stretch, Rich Strike was in the middle of the pack, but ended up flying past front runners and favorites in the race.
Epicenter (4-1 odds) finished right behind Rich Strike in second place, and Zandon (3-1 odds) finished in third place.
Rich Strike was Eric Reed’s first winning horse in the derby.
Venezuelan jockey, Sonny Leon, was riding in his first derby, and dashed to winning the $1.86 million for winner’s prize.
