The Local Blend VS Liquid Assets

The Local Blend and Liquid Assets are two well-known coffee shops around the Sartell area. Which one is better? Well…

Firstly, I went to the Local Blend to try it out. I had never been here before since there are closer coffee shops near Sartell, but when I walked in I was pleasantly surprised. First impressions, it is very welcoming and comfy. Before I got my coffee, I noticed that the Local Blend every Tuesday from 7-10pm hosts an open mic night for anyone interested. Not many coffee shops that I go to on a regular basis have activities such as open mic. Once I got into the shop I was greeted by a friendly girl named Chris. I explained to her that I had never been to the Local Blend before, and she was almost surprised. I asked what is her favorite espresso-based coffee and she goes, “If espresso is in it I automatically love it!” She also explained, “We have so many different flavors that you can honestly make your coffee the exact way you like it.” I opted to get a vanilla latte and a cup of the soup of the day, which ended up being chili. It didn’t take long for her coworker to come out with my coffee and soup, which is a huge plus. After tasting my coffee the espresso tasted sweet, which I like because more sweet espresso is better than bitter espresso. Another thing I noticed about The Local Blend was they have free self-serve water with glasses, which is just so convenient. If the workplace is busy the workers don’t need to stop what they’re doing to get customer water. Overall I spent $10.12

After traveling to the Local Blend I went to Liquid Assets. This was not my first time here; I have gone to Liquid Assets a lot of times trying different things each time. This time I got a vanilla latte with a salad. When drinking the coffee, their espresso tasted burnt and bitter which is not a good taste for coffee. The salad was a typical salad; it was very fresh and flavorful. The food was amazing and Liquid Assets holds a very welcoming and friendly environment with many places for people to sit and get homework or work done, but the restaurant felt very cold and I wouldn’t want to spend a lot of my time there because of how cold it got. One downfall I found while going there was they had very slow customer service. It took three minutes from entering to a worker asking if they could help me with anything. I asked one of the workers, Gracie, what her favorite part of the job is and she said, “My favorite part about this job is getting to experiment with different flavors of coffee and being able to see the different people who come in during the day.” Overall I spent $12.69, which is expensive for what I got.

My best recommendations between these two restaurants are to definitely take the drive to the Local Blend because of how good their coffee is as well as their food and the whole environment.
