This week at LeSabre, we are going to highlight one of the seniors from the 2024 graduating class. This week’s senior is Spencer Schmidt.
Spencer started his schooling at Pine Meadow Elementary. He played baseball on the youth team for a few years until middle school, but never really had interest in school sports. Spencer’s high school experience has been similar to others, except this year, Spencer spends his day at Apollo High School. He is enrolled in an advanced automotive class. This class is a good introduction to Spencer’s college plans. He plans to attend Lanier Technical College in Georgia. This school will provide Spencer with the automotive skills needed to proceed with becoming a performance technician within the motorsports industry. Spencer’s dream is to open up his own auto performance shop. Currently, Spencer is employed at the St Cloud Quick Lube as a lube technician, where he completes oil changes, tire services, brake services, alternator replacements, and fluid flushes.
Spencer has many hobbies. He has been scootering and snowboarding for just over five years, and in that time has learned a lot of impressive tricks. He also enjoys fishing, and hunting. Spencer has caught a six pound bass in the Mississippi River, and in 2023 he shot an elk in New Mexico. He clearly has a connection with the outdoors, but the one thing that has really clicked with Spencer is working on cars. Spencer owns a 2021 VW Jetta GLI 2.0L Turbo TSI. He has spent a lot of time modifying this car, and has a lot more modifications in mind. Some of the modifications he has already made are new wheels, coil overs, a turbo-back straight pipe exhaust setup, a short throw shifter, and it is tuned.
Besides cars, Spencer spends a lot of time with his friends and family. It is clear that he truly cares about these people and that these people think very highly of him too. I asked his mom, dad, and sisters what they appreciate about him. And it seems the most common theme is his ambition. Spencer has big goals, and there’s no doubt he will achieve them.
