There are so many options when it comes to prom dresses which makes choosing one very difficult!

While prom is still a few months away, it’s never too early to start thinking about where you want to look for your dress!

This year, the Sartell High School prom will be happening on April 13th 2024. Due to the fact that prom will be earlier in the spring, you may want to begin your dress shopping journey a bit sooner. Knowing where to start can be stressful and make you want to push it off till the last minute which makes it harder to find the perfect dress.

To try and help make the process go much smoother for all of you, I created a list of great places to dress shop with places nearby, a little further away, and online. I included a brief overview of each place along with a general price range so you can narrow down the places for what works best for you!

*Disclaimer* Some of these sites are blocked on school Wifi and or your school issued google account due to non academic uses.

If driving is a hassle for you, but you’d still like to try on the dresses in person, here are some great places nearby!

Carrie’s Prom and Tux– This shop includes many unique and exclusive styles with many different color options. They provide many sizing options to include anyone ranging from petite and plus sized. Their dresses are a little more spendy but nothing outrageous. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to find any exact pricing on their website. Definitely a good place to shop in person! They are located at 713 W Saint Germain St. Cloud, MN 56301.

Celebrations–  They offer a couple different designer options that vary from big and poofy to slim and elegant. Their website doesn’t show a whole ton of information because they only provide in store shopping with an appointment. I’d recommend setting up your appointment pretty far in advance due to the fact that many schools around the area will also be shopping around the same time. Their pricing is about the same as Carrie’s. You can find them at 2940 West Division Street St. Cloud, MN 56301.

Macy’s– They carry many beautiful but affordable prom dresses. They have a wide variety of sizing options for each dress. They also have many accessories in the store as well which makes this a good place to get all of your shopping done in one place. You are also able to order the dresses online if you don’t want to go into the store and try them on. There are many locations but the closest one is in Crossroads Mall.

If you don’t mind a little bit of travel, there are many more store options outside of St. Cloud. Here are some great stores closer to the cities.

Rubi Jubi–  They have very glamorous dresses here in many different styles. This is an appointment only store and won’t be open unless there is an active appointment. This could result in you getting lucky and having the whole store to yourself. It is pretty spendy here, however the quality makes up for it. They also refuse to sell the same dress to someone in the same school so you can be certain you will be the only one rocking that dress. This store is located in the Arbor Lakes strip mall in Maple Grove.

Posh Love–  This dress store has many unique dresses including suit dresses. If you are looking for a dress that has more personality this may be the store for you. They carry elegant dresses along with non traditional dresses. Their prices range from $100- $600. I’d personally recommend shopping in the store here because their selection is much more organized in person but they do offer online shopping if you would prefer to stay home. They are located in Ridgedale mall.

David’s Bridal–  They have many different types of dresses here with good sizing options. I will say that this specific location does not have a huge section in the store but they still have great options. The dressing rooms are very bright and open and the staff is very helpful. They have a very big range in pricing so finding a dress within budget is likely to happen here. Their address is 12965 Elm Creek Blvd.

If going shopping for dresses is not your favorite, online shopping offers more dresses from more places.

Don’t forget to pay attention to the measurements and measure yourself if you choose to order a dress online. There is nothing more stressful than your dress coming in the mail and it’s either way too big or way too small with no time to order a new one!

Windsor– They are known to have tons and tons of different styles so anyone could find something. They offer many inexpensive yet beautiful dresses starting at $59.99 including frequent sales. This is a great place to find a dress that looks great but doesn’t cost a fortune. Their shipping time is usually between 1-2 weeks but can take a little longer during peak seasons.

Lulus– I think that Lulus has the most elegant dresses of all the places I’ve looked at. They aren’t crazy expensive but they are all over $100 plus shipping. I will say that all of the models on the page all have the same body type which could make it difficult for people with a different body type to get an accurate visualization of how the dress will look on them. Their sizes range from XS-XL which isn’t very inclusive, but their dresses are very pretty.

Ravellia– This site has a very wide variety of dresses. The prices seem to stick around $150 up or down. They also have multiple colors to choose from for each dress however you can’t see what the color would look like in pictures. They offer tailoring services with shipping along with a guide to taking your own measurements so they can get it right. This is probably the most resourceful online prom dress store. Definitely order these dresses in advance because they take around 3-4 weeks to ship.

While shopping for the perfect prom dress is very stressful, it is also very exciting and should be a fun experience. A good way to make this process more relaxing is to narrow down all the places you want to check out and have a little bit of an idea of what you want. Make sure to check out Pinterest or other inspiring apps to help you know what you like and don’t like. Never forget that sometimes a dress that is ugly on the rack will look stunning on you!
