Kraft now, pay later program.

Kraft is offering a pay-it-forward program for government workers who are affected by the 27-day shutdown.

The pay later program will allow government workers to be able to stock up on various foods for their dinner table.

Kraft is allowing federal government employees to take home a bag of groceries as a pay later program.

The head of marketing at Kraft, Sergio Eleuterio said, “During the government shutdown, parents should not have to worry about putting dinner on the table because they aren’t receiving a paycheck.”

The pop-up shop will be open in Washington D.C. from January 16th-20th. As long as current federal government employees bring their government ID’s, they will be able to take home a full bag of Kraft groceries for their families.  Foods include popular mac and cheese, cheese singles, salad dressing, condiments, and more.

Kraft is only asking that unpaid worker pay-it-forward in the future and donate to their charity of choice, once they are able to receive a paycheck.  Plenty of other restaurants have joined in as well. A popular one is chef Jose Andres from World Central Kitchen who announced that he has opened a kitchen in Washington D.C. that will help feed some of the 800,000 people not receiving a paycheck.

“Kraft stands for families, and we want to support the families who have built our brands,” Sergio Eleuterio said. “This store is one way we can help those affected get the grocery staples they need, and we celebrate all who are doing their part to help.”
