The war between Donald Trump and Jim Acosta

Jim Acosta and President Donald Trump continue their clash.

Jim Acosta, the chief White House correspondent for CNN, had an altercation with President Donald Trump at a post-midterms news conference in the White House which led to Acosta’s press pass getting suspended.

The news conference on Wednesday, November 7th, 2018, quickly escalated into a heated exchange between Acosta and Trump, after Acosta refused to hand off his microphone to a White House intern and continued questioning the President.

President Donald Trump then called Acosta a “rude, terrible person” and continued, “I tell you what: CNN should be ashamed of itself, having you working for them.”

Sarah Sanders, White House Press Secretary, announced Wednesday evening that due to Acosta’s behavior and action of “yanking” back the microphone from the intern, his hard pass would be suspended.

“President Trump believes in a free press and expects and welcomes tough questions of him and his Administration,” Sanders said. “We will, however, never tolerate a reporter placing his hands on a young woman just trying to do her job as a White House intern.”

A hard pass is a reporter’s press credentials.

Sanders went on to say that Acosta’s actions were “absolutely unacceptable” and his refusal to pass the microphone on to the White House intern was “completely disrespectful to the reporter’s colleagues,” as it was not allowing them the opportunity to ask their various questions.

Tweets went out in seconds, and soon the ordeal was trending on Twitter. Reporters mainly took to defending Acosta and accusing the video Sanders tweeted out as being “sped up and edited.” While others condemned Acosta for his “violent” behavior.

Acosta reacted to his credential suspension by stating, “It was a pretty surreal experience,” and that “I never thought in this country that I wouldn’t be able to go and cover the President of the United States simply because I was trying to ask him a question.”

This is not the first time that Jim Acosta and President Donald Trump have clashed. Multiple instances are shown in the thing-link below about various exchanges between Acosta and Trump as well as articles further regarding the incident.
