Sartell football team defeated to cross town rival Sauk Rapids

On Friday, September 6th, 2024, the Sartell football team lost in a close battle with the Sauk Rapids Storm.

During the game, the Sabres were able to score three touchdowns coming from Anders Larson, Andrew Tavale, and Owen Vinje Stark but came up short after a last-second touchdown from the Storm.

When Levi Frieler was about the loss, he said, “We need to finish the game strong and secure the win.”

The Sabres defense played great, allowing three touchdowns and keeping the game close. Some standout defensive players from the game were Levi Frieler, Peyton Allen, and Andrew Tavale.

When Quarterback Austin Lahr was asked about the Sartell defense, he responded “They played great against Sauk and really gave are offense a chance to win.”

While losing to your cross-town rival is never fun, the Sabres played a phenomenal game and look forward to the upcoming games against the Brainerd Warriors and Alexandria Cardinals.

When Ola Adetunji was asked about the team’s mood after the game, he said, ”The emotions were high, but we were ready to look past it.”
