This week on Senior Spotlight we are highlighting Zayda Pekula.
Zayda Pekula is a Sartell High School senior. She has attended the Sartell school district since preschool. She has been on the Sartell Dance Team since her freshman year, she does studio dance at St. Cloud School of Dance, and she enjoys hanging out with her friends and family.
Zayda has a wide variety of hobbies and interests such as traveling, listening to music, spending time with friends, and dancing. Zayda’s favorite class all throughout high school has been sports med. She loves to learn about orthopedics, sports nutrition, and health. She plans to study either pharmacy or exercise science in college.
Zayda is one of three captains of the dance team and she performs varsity High-Kick and Jazz. She has been awarded All-Conference for High-Kick and Jazz for the 2023-24 season, was All-Conference honorable mention for High-Kick and Jazz for the 2022-23 season, and was awarded All-State for High-Kick in 2024. One of Zayda’s favorite memories from dance is winning state her freshman year or the fun bus rides down to the State Tournament with her team.

Q: “What is your favorite place to eat?” A: “Chick-fil-a.”
Q: “What is your favorite TV show?” A: “Criminal Minds.”
Q: “Who is your favorite artist?” A: “Noah Kahan or Lana Del Rey.”
Q: “Who is the most influential person in your life?” A: “I would probably say my older sister because she has high expectations for herself and others. Once she sets a goal in place she lets nothing stop her from achieving it. She is a humble, hardworking, and down to earth human.”
Q: “What is your favorite post competition meal?” A: “Subway or mac and cheese.”
Q: “What is your favorite thing about the dance team?” A: “Getting to be with my best friends everyday, doing what I love, working hard, and setting goals and pushing each other to achieve them.”
