Woman hit and killed by snowplow in Rochester

A 69-year-old woman was hit by a snowplow in Rochester while taking a morning walk alone Friday morning.

The accident that occurred Friday morning at 8:54 a.m. happened on Pinewood Road Southeast, the city said. Rochester police responded to the accident, and when they arrived on the scene confirmed that the pedestrian was dead. The Minnesota state patrol is investigating the crash.

State Patrol confirms that the snowplow was backing up at the time. The city employee who was operating the plow has been placed on paid administrative leave.
