Prom it Forward is a fundraiser at Rapids Alteration & Repair in Sauk Rapids being held March 4th and April 1st to raise money for Central Minnesota Sexual Assault Center by selling prom dresses for discounted prices.

Dresses are donated to Rapids Alteration of all sizes, styles, and colors. The dresses have been discounted and can range anywhere from $10-$300. They have hundreds of dresses that you can go in and try on with Prom it Forward volunteers and Rapids Alteration employees at the ready to help you with stubborn zippers and determining what needs to be altered to have the dress fit you perfectly.

The proceeds go to the non-profit organization Central Minnesota Sexual Assault Center. The center has a 24 hour crisis line that you can call to get help. They also offer one on one support counseling, support at hospitals, court, or reporting to law enforcement, along with many other helpful services.

Prom It Forward is the biggest fundraiser for Central Minnesota Sexual Assault Center to date, raising $28,155 in its first year. Cindy Battleson, the owner of Rapids Alteration, came up with the idea and she and her staff have spent hours collecting the dresses, tagging, and pricing them to be tried on and sold to anyone looking for a dress.

Donating a dress to the project is easy and buying a prom dress won’t break the bank. Prom It Forward promotes the project on Facebook and Instagram along with dates and times you can come in and where to call to donate a dress.
