StudCo organizes another year of turkey in a box
Sartell High school has chosen to help give back to the community to help families in need by giving them a full thanksgiving dinner.
The high school had been doing an amazing thing called Turkey in a Box. Each first block has a list of Thanksgiving food items to create for a big Thanksgiving meal for a family in the community.
Many of the boxes go to the Oak Ridge elementary families, especially new ones. If there are any leftover boxes after that, they are given out to families in the surrounding areas. This includes areas like Holdingford, Rocori, Sauk Rapids, and St. Cloud.
You can help by going out to your local grocery store and purchasing theses following items:
- 2 cans of corn
- 2 cans of green beans
- 2 cans of mushroom soup
- 2 boxes of stuffing
- 2 cans or jars of gravy
- 2 cans of pie filling
- 1 pie crust (Not refrigerated)
- 1 can of yams
- 1 bag of marshmallows
- 1 can of cranberry sauce
- 1 bag of potatoes
- 1 bag of dinner rolls
- 1 pound of butter
- 1 $20 grocery gift card for perishable items (or cash equivalent)
Last year student council was able to put together 82 boxes for families in the surrounding areas. Maybe this year will be even more containers!
Student council member Nathan Ramberg has spearheaded this whole thing, and all the student council members have helped make it possible. Also, student council would like to extend a huge thank you to all who are participating in Turkey in a Box.
