Teachers of Sartell: Mr. Greg Henning

Aili

During various weeks of the school year, the LeSabre highlights standout teachers of the Sartell-St. Stephen school district.

When you look throughout Sartell High School, you see all the teachers that make things possible. But the thing is…are they the same people outside of school that they are inside of school?

In the science rooms, you will find Mr. Henning. He spends most of his time doing labs and teaching kids science.

What does Henning do outside of the classroom though?

When asked that exact question, Henning’s answers were nothing short of fantastic. He says that he really enjoys cycling, which he has been doing for a couple of years now, because he “can’t run like [he] used to.”

Other things that Henning says he likes to do is cleaning, and getting rid of things because he is a minimalist. He also enjoys doing any landscaping that he can get his hands on.

After high school, Henning went to St. Cloud State University to become a teacher. If Henning hadn’t become a teacher, however, he would have liked to operate heavy machinery so he could do some sort of landscaping work.

Other than operating equipment, he would have also chose to become a professional organizer or cleaner. That way, he could help keep people’s places neat and tidy.

When asked what quote or phrase he lives his life by, Henning says, “Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should.”

He was told this from a former boss-turned-friend a few years back.

Now leaves the fun questions.

Q: If you were a fictional character who would you be and why?

A: He said he would like to be Lloyd Christmas from Dumb and Dumber.

Q: Who is your celebrity crush?

A: He responded that he’s never really followed celebrities, but if he had to pick one it would be Jessica Alba.

Finally, when junior Abby Brausen was asked what her favorite thing about Mr. Henning was, she gave a list of all his favorite quotes.

Her favorite of these would be “I like finding bandaids in the pool.”
