There are many benefits of world travel

Traveling around the world is a fun time that comes with many physical and mental benefits that many may not realize.

Mental health is a very important aspect of everyone’s day-to-day life.

According to WebMD, traveling can come with a multitude of mental health benefits. One of the most prominent benefits is the reduction of stress and anxiety, which helps people who suffer from anxiety and depression. Another benefit is an increase in creativity. Traveling allows you to see new places, explore new cultures, eat new foods, and expand your view of the world. Exploring all these new things has scientifically improved people’s problem-solving skills. A final mental benefit of traveling is the improvement of brain-power. Traveling allows your brain to be more productive and focused when you return from a trip, because your brain requires time to rest.

Physical health is another very important aspect to living a long, healthy life.

According to GoodRX, traveling comes with a handful of physical health benefits. One of the main benefits that can improve your overall life expectancy is the lowering of one’s risk for heart disease. Throughout the course of a nine-year study, scientists have come to the conclusion that people who travel once a year have a 30% lower risk of dying from heart disease. Another interesting physical health benefit that comes with traveling is its boost to the immune system. Traveling exposes your body to new ecosystems, germs, and bacteria. This exposure can lead to your a significant immune system boost.

On September 9th, I was fortunate enough to travel to the Turks and Caicos islands for a family vacation. I have traveled to many other places as well, but I always notice an increase in my mental health every time I return.

After recovering from the mentally draining process of traveling and returning home, I also feel my brain is much stronger than it was before I left for my trip. I feel this is because I have given my brain a long while to relax from the everyday stresses that we all face in our daily life, mine being mainly school and work.
