Prom night is more than dresses, dates, and flowers but more so about making memories that will last a lifetime. Prom is one of the memories that will last a lifetime and filled with traditions that will continue on for years. This year’s prom theme was “Enchanted Forest” and each year prom is hosted by the Junior class.

One unwritten tradition is going to Munsinger Garden for pictures by the river. Seeing everyone in their dresses for the first time all dressed up and taking pictures is easily one of the highlights of the night. Since it was super busy, lots of senior also went to St John’s for more picture. The brick building kept the wind blocked and created the perfect photos.
Senior Luci Klaverkamp says, “I really liked the backgrounds for photos and seeing everyone with their dates and families!”

The dance itself was hosted at the Rivers Edge Convention Center in downtown St. Cloud. The theme “Enchanted Forest” was shown off though dim lighting, candles, and lots of greenery. There was lots to keep everyone entertained. A dance floor, DJ, photo-booths, blackjack tables, and food are just a few examples. Many people debate the prom ticket prices as say they are expensive, however there is a lot provided for what we pay for.
Senior Sophie Heathcote believes prom should be somewhere else and cheaper: “I think prom would be just as fun for half of the cost at either our school or the same venue as winter formal, as long as there is a good DJ everyone can dance just like homecoming and winter formal.”
Junior, Claire Getting, agrees with Sophie. “Yes, it is nice to go to a nice venue for prom, but at the end of the day everyone goes out to eat before hand and takes pictures somewhere else so all that really matters is that the dance is hype and the dance floor being separated from the tables makes it hard for it to be energetic.”

Another tradition at our school is Grand March. Grand March takes place at the same place as prom but starts slightly before. Parents and families can watch dates walk the stage almost like a red carpet. Fun fact, you do not need a date to participate in Grand March which is a common misconception about it.
Molly Chappell who is also a senior at Sartell advises, “Definitely do Grand March, whether you have a date or not it is the perfect way to show off your dress and look for the night.”
This year’s prom was one for the books, especially for this years senior class.
