Family Guy Season 24, Episodes 10/11 Review

Episode 10

This episode begins with Peter or Quiet Burp as he’s called in this episode shooting at the giant chicken over a poker debate, then cuts to the usual four aiding Carter or “The Man With No Name” in transporting his money across the country by train. After a short time of riding a person riding a horse comes by to steal the money. From here it is a manhunt with a $5,000 bounty to see who can find out who did it. While splitting up to look around for the perpetrator, Peter branches off and finds a schoolhouse teacher he finds attractive. After going on a couple of dates, Peter finds out that the woman is actually the robber and he faces a moral dilemma on what he should do in this situation. When he tells the three others, they tie him up and explain that they want to live like kings with the bounty prize. Once Peter escapes from being tied up, he fights to keep him and the woman together, leading to a standoff where in the end Peter with the help of Wild West, he can get away by riding for a very long time.

The other part of this episode follows Brian and Stewie as two improv performers, where they don’t really find much success with their subpar skills for this era. Once this faded, they decided to go to a river and do a little gold panning to try and find their riches that way. Eventually, they stumble upon a big gold stream where the two stories cross and cause them to be rich, and Peter to get away due to the avalanche caused.

For an episode that revolves around the wild west, I assumed that the character Wild West would be included a bit more. He even had a little bit of a moment at the end where he made a little quip at how you might expect this type of episode to feature him a bit more. All in all, this episode had some good jokes and a decent plot, but it didn’t really impress me. For that reason I have this episode rated a bit below the audience reaction, with rating sitting at a 5/10.

Episode 11

Peter rips open his pants at church, which makes Lois bring to his attention that he may not be as desired as he wants to be. Later at the clam, Joe suggests that Peter should go on a dating app to seek some sense of desirability. He passes around the phone with his new profile and the guys make fun of him. To help Peter, they all decide they need to take some new photos that suggest he does anything other than sit at a bar. Even after all of that, Peter is failing to get anyone interested. Peter also finds out that Lois has been on a dating app when he sees her while scrolling. Instead of just talking to Lois about it and admitting he was also in the wrong, he decides that the best idea would be to make a whole new profile with Chris’s school-bus driver to catfish Lois. When Peter sets up a date to try and catch Lois, it doesn’t really work well because Lois was there when Peter was taking the photos of the bus driver. After a small conversation at the restaurant, they both say that the reason the two got on the apps was to seek some desirability.

The funniest part is Cleveland throughout the whole plot has been reminding Peter that he is married and maybe shouldn’t be on a dating app. It is probably the best gag of the whole episode. Another odd gag was Meg showing up twice to throw a little witty quip before being told to leave and shouting out “deuces.”

Stewie gets invited to a toddler party where he had a great time and comes back with these comically large boots. These large boots put him on a power trip and he explodes at Brian for being shorter than him. After Brian tries to put on some shoes that make him slightly taller, Stewie comes back with some stilts, which to his surprise is also the same idea that Brian had. Brian and Stewie chase each other out the door fighting when they run into some women that they like, which causes them to stop fighting so they can talk to them. While in conversation, they make sure to use their height to their advantage just so that they can go to a party with these girls. While at the party, they keep talking to the women and get invited to keep having fun the next night. During the next day, they show up to the beach and are asked to participate in their beach olympics, and after just a little bit of running Stewie falls into the ocean, making Brian have to make a decision between going out and following the girls, or saving Stewie and showing that he is not that tall off of stilts. In the end, Brian makes the right decision to save Stewie. They have a little heartfelt moment where Brian lays out that he was worried about Stewie outgrowing Brian and forgetting about him.
