Javon Moore is a 6’4, 210-pound American ice hockey forwardplaying as a freshman as the Left Wing/Forward for the University of Minnesota Gophers.
A Little Background
Javon Moore is the son of Stephanie Harkless and Justin Moore. Moore was born into a basketball family, but it was hockey that caught his eyes. Moore attended Minnetonka High School, where he played three seasons with the program. During his junior year, he was part of the team that won the state championship, defeating Hill-Murray, Andover, and Edina on the way to the title. He also led the team in scoring during his sophomore season.
Moore finished his high school career with 126 points and 34 multi-point performances for the skippers, named a finalist for the Mr. Hockey Award, and landed on the 2023-24 Star Tribune All-Metro Boys Hockey Third Team. He was also ranked as the No. 47 overall skater in North America by NHL Central Scouting heading into the 2024 draft.
Forward Javon Moore played for the Sioux Falls Stampede in the USHL during the 2023-24 and 2024-25 seasons. During his time with the Stampede, Moore gained valuable experience competing against some of the top junior hockey talent in the country, helping prepare him for the next level of competition in college hockey. His performances in the USHL helped pave the way for his transition to the Gopher Hockey program!
On Aug. 8 of 2024, Javon Moore announced his commitment to Motzko’s program, becoming the third player with Minnetonka ties to commit to the Gophers since the NCAA window opened on Aug. 1. Moore did a far-and-wide exploration of college options before picking the team he had followed since childhood.

As just a freshman on the Gopher Hockey team, Javon Moore quickly made an impact by scoring the overtime game-winning goal to upset No. 4 Denver on Nov. 29. Moore has already shown flashes of his potential. His scoring ability and physical play have helped him earn ice time and contribute in important moments for the team.
His clutch performance came during a multi-point night in the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Game at Ball Arena, where he helped lead the team to one of its biggest wins of the season. Moore’s standout effort not only showed his ability to perform under pressure but also earned him the first Big Ten weekly award of his college career, marking an impressive early milestone in his time with the program.
As Javon Moore continues developing at the college level, many believe he has the potential to become a key player for the Gophers. With his combination of size, skill, and experience from junior hockey, Moore could play an important role in the team’s success in the coming seasons.
From winning a state championship in high school to scoring an overtime game-winner as a freshman, Moore has already shown he can rise to big moments.
