On January 9th a Rochester house fire broke. Rochester fire department crews were called to 822 Fox Pointe lane at 10:15p.m. that night. It was a large single-family home with heavy smoke pouring from the garage and main floor, with flames visible along the rear roofline.
The Rochester fire crew began hard work to put out the flames, while a search team looked for any people in the blazing house. During their search they discovered two adults who were both found in the garage. CPR efforts were performed on the two individuals, and in the end their efforts were not successful. The two were pronounced dead at the scene, despite all the effort to revive them. The cause of death will be determined by the medical examiner. Authorities have not yet released the victims identities, and no other occupants were believed to be in the home.
The fire was ultimately located in the garage and attic space, where it was extinguished. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
One neighbor who lives a few houses away did not wish to be identified on camera but shared what she witnessed with ABC 6 news.
“Neighbors were starting to gather on the street. I put my coat on and I went out too, and there was just a lot of smoke, and we saw CPR being done.”
The same neighbor said she knew the person in the home and was hoping he was not home. She stated “The man I knew who lives there, I keep hoping that he’s on vacation, and had house sitters that I don’t know, because it’s breaking my heart.”
The cause of the fire is still unknown, but the State Fire Marshal is assisting Rochester’s Fire Marshal Division with the investigation.
