Over the last couple of days, Trump’s administration has launched multiple investigations at colleges for antisemitism which is hostility towards Jewish people.
On October 7th, 2023, Hamas terrorists attacked Jewish people. This resulted in more than 1200 deaths and 240 civilians being held hostage. After Israel was attacked, they responded by attacking Gaza, and the US aided in bringing military supplies to Israel.

Since then, pro-Palestinian protests have broken out at the University of Minnesota. People were upset that the country they currently live in was helping kill their Palestinian family back home. This caused lots of antisemitism on the college campus.

On January 29th, 2025, President Donald Trump signed an executive order to combat antisemitism. Trump has also threatened to deport anyone who was involved in the pro-jihadist protests, also known as pro-Palestinian protests.

The U of M is one of five colleges that is being investigated. The others include Columbia University, Northwestern University, Portland State University, and the University of California. The U of M and the Jewish community are welcoming the investigations, but others think it is an attack on Palestinian viewpoints.
