Mr. Henning is an awesome teacher here at Sartell High School, and this week we will be featuring him as teacher of the week.
Mr. Henning is a loving teacher who brings passion and enthusiasm to his lessons making the most complex concepts accessible and engaging. He takes the time to understand each student’s needs and learning styles; his classroom is a welcoming space to everyone filled with love, kindness, support and patience.

He has a family of four kind members. His incredible wife, Theresa, his oldest daughter, Katelyn- 18 years old, Alyssa- 15 years old, and his young hero, Zach- 12 years old. Him and his wife met in high school, and they are high school sweethearts from Cathedral High School.

What do you and your family like to do together?
“We like to play lots of board games like catan, cribbage, and ticket to ride.” – Mr. Henning
Why did you choose to be a chemistry teacher?
“Actually I went to school to be a physics teacher. I had to take chemistry to do so and really enjoyed chemistry. So, I chose to get a degree in both. I became a teacher because I loved my high school experience and wanted to share my passion for learning and science with others.” – Mr. Henning
Mr. Henning has been teaching at Sartell High School for 19 years, and he loves it. He teaches chemistry, bio chemistry, and college chemistry.

Mr. Henning is the head coach of the cross country team and also assistant track coach. He likes to run and ride his road bike all over central Minnesota.


Mr. Henning likes to hangout with his coworkers because they get along very well. He also likes to drive the school bus for meets.

If you were not a teacher, what would you do?
“I would either be in trades, like electrician or engineer. Or I would be operating heavy equipment” – Mr. Henning
What do you do in your free time?
“Hit the bike for a few hours.”
What is your favorite food?
“A lot of people might hate on me for this one but I’m a big fan of burger and fries.” – Mr. Henning
