Boys’ Sabre hockey is back with an impressive first game against the Willmar Cardinals. The boys didn’t get off to a good start in the first period only leading 2-1 by the end of the first. That might have been because they got to the rink with only 20 minutes before they were supposed to be on the ice.
Coming into the second period, they knew they had to turn it up a notch now that they were warm and had a good talk in the locker room. They came out flying, scoring not even five minutes into the period and kept it rolling. By the end of the second period, it was 8-1.
The third period came around, and with a very comfortable lead, they were feeling good. The game finished with a final score of 10-1 putting up more than 50 shots.
There were also four first varsity goals scored in this game by Jameson Schmitz, Caleb Thompson, Isaac Mentzer, and Preston Deragisch.
Other goals were Shaun Paulson, Jace Jansky, Owen Oxton and Devin Jacobs each with two.
