It is getting to be the time of year when the senior class is narrowing down their choices for colleges. There are thousands of options within the United States, and even more outside of its borders.
Some students will decide to leave America and start a new life. Other students will venture outside of state borders and travel across the country. There are also those who don’t want to go to far, but still need a change of scenery, so they’ll go to a neighboring state. However, lots student will go to school right here in Minnesota! There are wonderful options here in Minnesota, from the huge Big 10 school, The University of Minnesota, to smaller, private schools like The College of St. Benedict and St. John’s University.
Just like all the other aspiring future college students my age, I began the hunt for the perfect college fit. I toured some schools in other states, and also in Minnesota. The one school that stuck out to me the most was the University of St.Thomas.
St.Thomas is a beautiful private college in the metro area of Minnesota. It is the largest private school in the state, but still smaller than some of the other state colleges. There is roughly 9,000 students, and they cap their class sizes at 1,500 each year. St.Thomas offers over 150 different undergrad majors and minors for students to chose from. They are also well known for their amazing exchange program. Not only do 70% of their student study abroad, but they actually have a campus in Rome!
St.Thomas clearly offers many different resources, but the school alone is absolutely beautiful. They have many buildings that have been there since the school first was created, but they are appropriately updated.
From dorms, to classes, to their outdoor area, St.Thomas is beaming with brightness. Each little detail on campus is tied together perfectly to paint a gorgeous scene. Because of the smaller school atmosphere, you feel all the good vibes when visiting the school.

I had mentioned St.Thomas’ incredible study abroad program prior, but I got to the opportunity to speak with a junior at St.Thomas about the study abroad program to explain in more detail. Sophie Mertensotto is a Sartell High School alumni and has studied in Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Rome, and Spain!
