This last Friday night, October 11th 2024, a man had died after being stabbed by a police suspect during a fight in Lowertown, St. Paul.
Police Sargent Mike Ernster said that the fight had happened sometime before 5:23 pm. The police officers were called to 200 block of East 7th Street. After they had arrived at the scene, it looked to be a man with stab wounds sitting in the parking lot of the gas station.
After medics responded, he was brought to Regions Hospital. Later, the man died from injuries. His death was ruled a homicide.
A suspect that was on the scene stayed and later was brought into custody. Investigators are still unsure on what exactly happened but early reports say it might have just been a fight that led to the stabbing.
Sgt. Ernster said on Saturday that the suspect was a 60 year old man who was then released that day. Investigation still continues by the Ramsey County Attorney’s Office.
