The featured Sartell alumni and graduate this week is Rachel Schafer!

Rachel has called St. Stephen her home her whole life, and graduated from Sartell High School in 2023. Tune into this article to learn about her college life, some favorite teachers from Sartell, and what she’s majoring in!

Q: What do you miss about high school?

A: I’d say getting to hangout with friends all day and seeing people you’re close with.

Q: What do you miss about Sartell?

A: I miss the peacefulness of being at home and having my dogs there, and I miss my underclassman friends.

Q: Who were your favorite Sartell teacher?

A: I gotta say Mr. Scherer or Mrs. Nelson.

Q: What was your favorite Sartell class?

A: Hands down Abnormal Psychology.

Q: Are you still friends with people from Sartell?

A: Yes, my best friend Abby Orhlien went to the same college as me, and I still hangout with friends from home when the timing works.

Q: Do you get homesick in college?

A: Once in a whil,e but not really because I was ready to start my college journey.

Q: Where did you end up?

A: I ended up in Duluth, Minnesota at the University of Minnesota Duluth

Q: Where did you think you were going to end up?

A: I was looking at colleges out of state and I was also planning at one point to go to Concordia in Morehead

Q: What are you majoring in and are you enjoying it?

A: My major is Psychology and so far I like it, and I just declared my minor in French Studies.

Q: Have you made new friends?

A: Yes, college brings lots of new people into your life

Q: Whats your favorite class in college?

A: I liked being in the choir last year

Q: Who is your favorite person college introduced to you in college?

A: My boyfriend Josh. We met my freshman year and I have known him since the first day of college.
