The Sartell boys’ hockey team looks to defend and go for their 4th conference title in a row, this upcoming hockey season
Last season, the boys’ hockey team captured their third Central Lakes Conference title in a row. They won it in dramatic fashion in a winner take all game against the Brainerd Warriors. The boys have high standards going into this season with nobody being a part of the original team that started the winning streak four years ago.
Senior defenseman Jace Jansky says, “All the other teams lost a lot of seniors, therefore there are going to be a lot of young guys having to step up and play big roles, that is also the case for us.”
For the upcoming season, the boys look forward to filling up the team with new faces. The boys graduated 10 seniors last year, a lot of spots are opening up for younger guys to fill.
Incoming sophomore and first year high school player Preston Deragisch understands the pressure put onto the boys this year: “I’m excited to continue this winning tradition in Sartell.”
The boys are working hard everyday to prepare for this season. They worked in the early mornings of the summer to be the best players they can.
Senior Captain Shaun Paulson, who posted 26 points for the Sabres last year, says his goals for the team are “to win the conference for a fourth time and to go to state.”
Paulson has high hopes for the team this year and is very eager to start the season. The boys will kick off their season on Monday, November 5 on the road against Wilmer.
