Sartell High School’s Parade Committee is gearing up for the 2024-2025 homecoming parade, aiming to boost community participation.
The Homecoming Parade has been around for a long time, and every year local businesses gather to participate in the event. This year the Osman Shriners go-kart drivers will be participating in the Parade, and the committee is very excited! The Osman Shriners drive go-carts in fun patterns, drawing the attention of many.
Every year, the Parade committee puts a lot of effort into planning each year’s parade and spends weeks preparing for it.
Bennett Prose, Head of the Parade Committee says, “Most of the planning is reaching out to local businesses, organizations, and schools. Then of course there is the ‘organized chaos’ of the day of the parade where we have to get all the floats in order.”
Since the parade is immediately before the Homecoming football game, many people may oversee it due to the impending excitement of getting ready.
When asked what the most difficult part of gaining participation in the Parade is, Prose claims “The most difficult part of the Parade is sending out all the information and finding new floats to join us!”
Attending and participating in the Homecoming Parade often creates positive memories for friend groups.
Prose has been planning the Parade for multiple years, he says, “My favorite memory is my first or second year of the parade where it rained the entire time… was kinda awful, but kinda fun too!”
Planning the Parade can come with challenges, and also lots of fun. Watching the Parade float entries is one of the event’s highlights.
Prose describes his favorite part of the Parade.”The most fun part of the Parade is congratulating the winner of the best float! Now, they don’t win much (just bragging rights), but the floats get really competitive and are super excited when they win.”
