Teacher of the Week: Mr. Forberg

This week the LeSabre is highlighting the hobbies and life of one of our wonderful social studies teachers and former students, Mr. Forberg!

Mr. Forberg can be found in the upper meadows wing in room M201 at SHS. It is only his second year teaching at Sartell High School, and he is already a student favorite. He teaches US History and Human Geography to our juniors and freshmen, as well as coaching our boys’ soccer team.

Mr. Forberg was asked a series of questions, about his career and life outside of teaching.

He is a phenomenal teacher who prioritizes making connections with his students in and outside the classroom. When he is not teaching, he can be found playing, watching, and coaching numerous sports, or spending time outside with his family and golden retriever, Ginny.

Mr. Forberg loves being a teacher, but if he wasn’t he said he would love to work for the Chicago Bears, “I don’t know what that would be, but in any role they’d have me in, I’d move down there.”

For those who have not had Mr. Forberg as a teacher, he is a former student from Sartell High School. He said that some of his favorite memories from when he was a high schooler here were, “Just hanging out with friends and going to sporting events. The pepfests were also really fun back when I was in high school.”

When asked what he would teach instead of history, he responded, “Probably something on leadership and just preparing students for what life looks like outside of high school. I think anything on leadership, and everyday essential things would be interesting and really beneficial.”

Finally, Mr. Forberg was asked about why he came back to teach at Sartell, and he responded with, “A few different reasons, I think for one is just the people, the community. My family is here, my wife’s family is here. I had a lot of good interactions and good experiences here with teachers, and I wanted to have a similar impact on students.”
