As the first few weeks on the new school year begins, the yearbook staff is already working hard as ever to collect their yearbook content. One of my favorite sections of the year book has always been the Senior Superlatives. This got me thinking; what about our staff? I decide to consult with some other students at our school, and come up with staff superlatives between the other students and I!
First up, we have our class clown, Mr.Sinkel! Mr.Sinkel is a student and staff favorite. Not only can he make you laugh, but he also has a very personal kick to him. He has been able to make an impact on so many students that have gone through his classes. Brinkley Zabel, and senior student at Sartell says, “He’s someone I can always talk to and get advice from.” History isn’t always particularly fun, but with Mr.Sinkel teaching, he’ll make you feel like you’re at a comedy show! I remember how Sinkel would always try to put a fun, and interactive spin on each assignment we did to keep it interesting. Thank you Sinkel for giving us all a laugh and being a good role model for myself, and other Sartell students.
Next up, we have Mrs.Fredrickson, nominated for the most school spirit! Not only does Freddie have the most school spirit, she also organizes all of our pep events. When she’s not busy teaching her life skill classes like psychology and leadership, you can find her planning the carnival, blood drive, and so much more. Maddie Winters, a senior at Sartell high School says, “The homecoming event is definitely my favorite event organized by Freddie.” Schools are just buildings, but with the sense of community that is created by these events Freddie organizes, we become a family. It is clear students here at Sartell love Freddie. We our so grateful to have someone with so much dedication in this district!
Nest, we have Mrs..Barten, who is receiving the most kind award. Barten is a math teacher here at Sartell High School, but also works with students who don’t particularly flourish in the subject. I had a class with Barten during my sophomore year and I must say, she puts up with a lot. There was a lot of talking, goofing around, late assignments, and much more. However, she was able to take on these challenges with an attitude of pure kindness. Having an encouraging role model in a class like math is so beneficial to student. It is one of those subjects that a lot of kids get stumped on. Addie Mortensen, a senior at Sartell High School, and a former student of Barten’s says, “She has the warmest heart.” Not only does she put up with us, but she takes care of her three kiddos at home too. Thank you Mrs.Barten for working hard to make sure every student feels good about themselves!
Coming in next we have Mrs.Wilson, receiving the most reliable award. Wilson had been with me through my entire time at the Sartell High School. The first thing I noticed about her, after we got to meet our SA teachers at Sabre Splash, was that she is very organized. Not only has she been my advisory teacher since freshman year, I also got to have her in English my junior year. For the semester I was taking the class, I felt so organized and well prepared for each assignment, quiz, or paper. You can always count on Wilson to make your life as easy as possible, while also making it practical. Thank you Mrs.Wilson!
Next up we have Mr.Forberg, posing with one of his players and looking quite close in age. Forberg is receiving the most likely to be mistaken as a student award! I talked to Ruby Gallipo about her opinion on Forberg, and she said, “I feel like I can actually learn from him, without getting bored. I even thought he was a student on the first day of school last year.” I couldn’t agree more with her. History classes can be monotonous, especially when you are learning material you’ve already learned in past years. Forberg takes a real fun approach to his teaching style. He always makes student feel like a friend, and puts a fun but information vibe to the classroom. Thank you Forberg for bringing your youthful energy to the Sartell students, as well as the boys soccer team!
Next up, we have Mr.Schultz listening to some tunes after being named always on aux! Schultz is known for having the best soundtrack on at all times. His music rangers from pop, country, R&B, and so many more styles. Whatever Schutlz is playing in class, is going to be trendy, and typically a banger. Lexi Menzter says, “I love Schultz and his music” in regard to his award. Shultz not only plays the best music, but brings the best vibe to his classes too. Schultz brings fun in his gym and health classes by being involved with his students. Iwalked past the aux gym today looking to interview some students, and I happened to peek in and see Schultz playing in the game with his students. It was nice to see how active he was participating in the game, as well as teaching the class. Thank you Schultz for bringing the best playlist to ever class we take!
Next up we have Mr.Oistad and Mr.Scherer receiving the thrilling news they have been nominated for best bromance. Both of these two work in our meadows wing doing history classes, as well as Scherer taking on some psychology classes. The two have big, bright personalities! I got the opportunity to interview both teachers to see what the have to say about one another! Mr Oistad says, “I really enjoy Mr. Scherer’s company. He makes things in life fun, and we have so much in common,” in regard to his BFF Scherer. When Scherer was asked he said, “Mr.Oistad makes everything more enjoyable because he is so funny. We have lots in common. He is a stand-out guy, and always sticks to his word. He is a great example for the students of Sartell.” What an admirable duo we have here at Sartell! Thank you to Mr.Scherer and Mr.Oistad for setting such a great example for all the members here in our community.
Next up, we have Mrs.Nelson receiving the second mom award! Everyone who has had Nelson knows just how warm her heart is. Nelson treats every student that comes through one of her classes as her own. She has been an amazing support system for myself and others. I asked one of my good friends, Kinzie Cuspiag how Nelson has impacted her, and she said, “She introduced me to journalism, and now I am doing it in college. She has always been someone I could talk to whether it was about school or life. She has the sweetest soul and I miss her so much.” Thank you so much Nelson for being such a positive figure in our lives! We couldn’t be more grateful for your passion for our success.
Last but not least, we have Mr.Henning receiving the MVP award! I decided to award Henning with this tittle, because I truly believe he goes above and beyond! Henning puts everything he’s got into his teaching. Not only is he very driven in his teaching, but he also coaches the cross-country team and is an admirable athlete himself. I asked Henning what one of his favorite quotes is, and he chose, “Students will not always remember what you taught them, but they will always remember how you treated them.” I complete agree with this quote, and believe Henning is a living example of it. Henning has managed to support so many students at various sporting activities. You can also typically find him volunteering at school events. He even has a wall commemorating all the seniors he has had through the year. Mr.Henning, thank you for continuously showing up every day for myself, and all the students and staff here at Sartell. We are so lucky to have such an amazing representative in our school, and a role model for what positivity and drive looks like. Thank you, Henning.
