The mission: get breakfast. The destination: Panera Bread. The time limit: 1 hour and 30 minutes. On this adventure Elijah, Hadley, and Genna left from the cozy comfort of the journalism room to embark on the breakfast side quest of a lifetime.
Welcome to the breakfast series where we “skip” first block (with permission from the school and our parents) and go to a food joint where you wouldn’t think to go for breakfast. We satisfy weird cravings and whip around in Elijah’s car all to make it back before the bell rings for second block.
Panera Bread has an extended breakfast menu that goes until 10:30 am. They specialize in egg and melty cheese sandwiches on bagels, breads, and buns. Freshly baked muffins, croissants, and bagels perfectly paired with hot coffee or a charged lemonade.
Hadley’s Review
I got a bacon bravo sandwich with hot tea. The price was a little spendy for a sandwich but it was so worth it. The sandwich had turkey, bacon, tomatoes and lettuce. The bread was soft and slightly sweet on the top which complimented the savory flavor of the bacon very well. The tea bar that they had was so fun and the tea was very flavorful. I would definitely recommend their breakfast menu, the food is worth the price.
Elijah’s Review
I had the Chipotle Chicken, Scrambled Egg & Avocado on Ciabatta with their Mac & Cheese. I thought the price was pretty good for the serving size you got. As a teenage boy, it filled me up for a couple of hours. The Chipotle Chicken sandwich was pretty good. It was well balanced with the perfect amount of spice but not overpowering the eggs, chicken, and avocado. Now let’s move on to the Mac & Cheese, I thought it tasted bland but it was very creamy and the noodles were cooked perfectly.
Gennavive’s Review
I also had the Chipotle Chicken, Scrambled Egg & Avocado on Ciabatta along with a warm Chocolate Chip Cookie and a charged lemonade. The best part for me was the avocado that was included in the sandwich. I love extra veggies in my sandwiches so this was a plus for me. I also thought it was a very big portion for a breakfast item compared to the price ($6.59). The chocolate chip cookie was kept warm very well and was not too crunchy. The only downside was that the chocolate got all over my hands.
Panera Bread is just one of many other reviews to come. Stay tuned to see what other odd breakfast places Hadley, Elijah, and Genna visit!
