There are many ways to put yourself out there and make some friend!

One of the best things in life is having a tight group that you are close with. I believe that putting yourself out there can really help with creating that group. Whether it’s participating in sports, activities, or going to school events, you can create friendships that will last you a lifetime.

#1 Sports

Participating in sports is a great way to get yourself out there and to meet new people who have the same interests as you. For example, I have been in dance since I was two years old and almost all of my close friends are either in dance with me or were in dance with me at some point. Having that connection with each other over your love for your sport already makes you have something in common.

#2 Activities

Hazel Heinen, Ellen Herbst, Jenna Jansky, Lily Warnert, Jillian Lee, Amelia Larcom, Kinzie Cusipag, Brinkley Zabel, Lola Sens, and Sophie Swartout get ready to dance at JFK dance camp. (Lily Warnert)

Activities are also a great way to meet new people. If you are not interested in participating in sports, another way to share your interests with your peers is joining activities. Some fun activities to join are: art club, DECA, speech, theater club, etc.

#3 School Events

Sartell High School juniors get country at their home football game. (Lily Warnert)

Another way to get involved with your peers is by going to school events. Attending your school’s sports games, homecoming, or prom is an awesome way to make new connections. Some of my favorite friends I have met through going to football games together or getting ready for winter formal as a group.

Joining dance and going to school events has helped me meet so many new people and make great friends. I am so thankful for all the connections that these experiences have given me and I can’t wait to meet new people.
