This past week Atira, Hannah, and Brooke visited Local Blend in St. Joseph to try out the beverages that the coffee shop had to offer.
Local Blend has been up and running since 2006. The building has been a home to many businesses before Local Blend, including another coffee shop right before the Engholm family (owners of Local Blend) bought the space.
On the inside of the coffee shop, you can find most of their seating and decor being made from local businesses or resources. The chairs and booths on the inside of the coffee shop are all wooden from local trees in the community. The food is served on pottery plates made by local artists, along with the honey being from local bee farms. Local Blend’s coffee is locally roasted and all the food is made at the shop by employees. They have beautiful pottery displayed on shelves that patrons can look at while dining at Local Blend, and most of the pottery is even available to buy!
Since the coffee shop has been voted in a St. Cloud Times poll for being the best coffee shop in Central Minnesota, we thought we would try what they had to offer.
The review of the drinks are below!
Atira got the Snow Day, giving it a 9.1/10. The Snow Day is a vanilla, white chocolate, and Irish cream latte: “I gave it a 9.1, because it could’ve had more white chocolate in the drink. It was difficult to taste it.”
Hannah got the Turtle Squiggle, giving it 9.5/10. A Squiggle is a blended espresso drink that comes in many different flavors: “I thought the drink tasted just like a Caribou or Starbucks drink. I got the specialty one, which cost a little more, but was totally worth it!”
Brooke got the Apricot Pear Peach Smoothie. She gave it a 7.2/10: “The drink had a good flavor to it, but the smoothie melted very quickly.”
If you’d like to visit Local Blend and try out their great coffee, they are located at 19 W Minnesota St, St. Joseph.
