FF must starts for week 8
Another week in the NFL season is upon is, and with injuries and bye weeks starting to heat up managers are looking for guys to slot into their lineups this week.
DJ Moore is coming off a huge week and has seen a large number of targets nearly every single week. The Panthers have traded away several major weapons in their offense, including Chistian Mccaffrey and Robbie Anderson, which opens up an opportunity for him to dominate this offense. Last week DJ played every single offensive snap for the Panthers as well. The Panthers go to Atlanta this weekend who has been horrendous against the pass, allowing the most points to wide receivers in the entire NFL so far this season. Assuming the Panthers stick with PJ Walker, feel comfortable with Moore in your lineups.
Travis Etienne finally broke out and had nearly twenty points in week seven. Etienne lead the Jaguars running backs in touches at a whopping fifteen to one ratio on Sunday. He also lead the Jaguars in snap count for the fourth straight week, showing that this is really his backfield. James Robinson was also traded early this week, giving him the full workload of the backfield. The Jaguars take on Denver at home, who has been right in the middle of the pack in points allowed to Etienne. Etienne should be a must start going forward, unless we see a major change in his playing time or health.
With the Jets most likely losing Breece Hall for the season, Michael Carter is in line to dominate the Jets backfield this week. He played over seventy percent of the snaps on Sunday, with Hall leaving the game early. Carter has been a top thirty running back, averaging ten points while having a relatively low snap count as of recent while the Jets leaned on Breece Hall. The Jets did make a trade for James Robinson on Monday night, but I still expect Michael Carter to log at least 70% of the snaps this week. The Jets take on New England at home, who have performed very well against the run allowing the seventh least points per game to running backs. Treat Carter as a low end RB2, or flex option this week.
Brandon Aiyuk has had two strong showings in back to back games, seeing eleven targets in both contests, and averaging over twenty one points. With Deebo Samuel’s health in question for this week with his hamstring strain, Aiyuk should be in line for another big game. The 49ers have another good matchup this week against the Rams who have allowed the tenth most points to wide receivers throughout the season. Even if Aiyuk gets followed around by Jalen Ramsey all day, I’m not that worried. Kyle Shanahan gets him enough schemed touches that the matchup isn’t a major concern to me. Aiyuk is a mid tier WR2 this week, and a great option to replace your guys on bye.
Chris Olave has been the best wide receiver out of this rookie class so far. He has been dominating the fantasy scene averaging over fifteen points this season, and over eighteen points since week three. With Andy Dalton getting the start agin this week, I see a very clear path for Olave to become a clear cut WR2. When Michael Thomas comes back, I still feel very good about playing Olave. In games that Michael Thomas played, Olave still averaged nearly ten targets in those contests. The Saints play the Raiders at home, who have allowed the eleventh most points to wide receivers throughout the season. Expect another solid performance from Olave this week.
