The Twins team was not looking to have a great season coming into this year. They were poised for another losing season and yet another year not making the playoffs. Through 15 games, they were tied for the best record in the American League. Since then, they have sat around the middle of the pack when it comes to stats and wins. They have dropped to 3rd in the division, but still compete every day to win. The twins have a young team and are definitely gaining experience this year. Although veteran Byron Buxton is leading the team in hitting with seven home runs on the year. He is batting with a .237 average right now.

Their team batting average right now is ranked 23rd in the league, but they have scored the 9th most runs and hit the 10th most home runs this season. They have had a very average year at the plate, but the same can’t really be said about their defense. In most key defensive statistics, they rank in the middle to the bottom of the league. They are currently minus-5 on run differential this year. With a just below .500 record, they will have to make a big run at a division title or try to shore up some spots on the roster to make a playoff push. There is so much that happens around the MLB trade deadline, so there’s a chance that with the right moves, they could be in a position to make the playoffs. It is quite inevitable that they will sell at the deadline and give up players for more capital in the minors and prospects as well.
