Night 1
The Vision and IShowSpeed vs The Usos and LA Knight
This match was a perfect start to night 1 of WrestleMania. The first hour of each night was free on the ESPN app, which allowed anyone to tune in and watch the product. When they would tune in, they would instantly recognise IShowSpeed and Logan Paul.
The match started very slowly, but towards the end, we got to see Logan Paul get mad at Speed after Austin Theory got pinned and lost the match for their team. Paul would then go on to punch Speed and knock him out. He laid Speed on the announcer’s desk and got up to the top rope to jump and put Speed through the table.
The Usos had other plans. They grabbed Paul before he jumped, took him out, and the whole momentum shifted. Knight grabbed speed off the table and put Paul in his spot. They hyped speed encouraged him to make his own WrestleMania moment, and get on the top rope to put Paul through the table
I rank this match a 7/10.
Unsanctioned Match: Jacob Fatu vs Drew McIntyre
Unsanctioned Matches in the WWE generally mean the WWE would not be held accountable for any injuries or damages the wrestlers cause to each other. I think we, as fans, expected an all-out blood bath of a match as we’ve had with other Unsanctioned Matches.
This was not the case for this match. While the match had its moments, it did not deliver to the extent we all wanted. There were some table spots where each of the guys would get driven through, but it just didn’t live up to our expectations.
Fatu hit McIntyre with the toolbox, and Drew would fall onto the table in the ring, and Fatu would go to the top rope and hit a moonsault off the top rope through McIntyre to end the match.
I rank this match a 7/10.
Paige & Brie Bella vs (c.) Irresistible Forces vs. Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss vs. Bayley & Lyra Valkyria
The biggest part of this fatal four-way tag match is Paige returning to the WWE after leaving in June of 2022. There had been rumors that Paige resigned with the WWE, but the fans had no idea how she would be reintroduced to the brand.
Nikki Bella and Brie Bella (known as the Bellas) were supposed to be tagging in this match, but Nikki Bella had suffered an injury. Their music hit, and both Nikki and Brie came out, but Nikki had other plans.
She didn’t want Brie to miss out on a WrestleMania moment, so she said she had an old friend who would help her out. Paige’s theme hit, and the crowd erupted with cheers. Brie and Paige would go on to win the match and become the new Women’s Tag Team Champions.
I rank this match a 7/10.
This match was also very underwhelming. It felt like their entrances lasted longer than the whole match. The referee and Becky Lynch have beef because Becky feels like the ref is always out to cost her the match.
Becky and the ref got into it many times, and it really felt like Becky would lose the match again, but she would go in to beat AJ Lee and become the new women’s intercontinental champion.
i rank this match a 5/10.
Gunther and Rollins don’t really have a background with each other. The match was thrown together at the last minute because Rollins’ original opponent, Bron Breaker, was injured weeks earlier. Instead of having two big stars miss WrestleMania, the WWE decided to create a mini feud in the weeks leading up to Maina.
Bron Breaker was medically clear a couple of days before the event, so fans speculated that he would return to take out Rollins. Sure enough, he did. He came running from backstage and speared Seth Rollins; he threw him into the ring, and Gunther put Rollins to sleep.
Breaker started walking up the ramp as Rollins rolled out of the ring. Breaker would come speeding down the ramp, and he absolutely drilled Rollins with a massive spear.
I rank this match an 8.5/10.
Liv Morgan vs Stephanie Vaquer
This feud has been cooking for the past few weeks; it has been getting personal. They’ve been targeting each other’s past. In my opinion, this match was a perfect length.
We all knew that Morgan’s tag partners were going to interfere in the match and cost Vaquer the title. Vaquer got pushed off the ropes, and Morgan would push Vaquer into the ropes and hit her finishing move.
She pushed Vaquer over for the pin and would become the new Women’s World Champion.
I rank this match a 7.5/10.
Undisputed WWE Championship: (c) Cody Rhodes vs Randy Orton
The match started very unexpectedly. Pat McAfee inserted himself into this match weeks ago, and fans were very upset at that. WWE did a great job pleasing the fans by having Rhodes take him out early.
He “Cross Rhodes” McAfee and put him into the announcers’ table. Jelly Roll came out of the crowd and pointed at McAfee, got into the other announcer’s table, jumped onto McAfee, and absolutely blew up the table. McAfee was stretchered off.
The match was laid out pretty well, with both Orton and Rhodes getting spots in and showing the fans that each is still capable of being champ. Towards the end of the match, Orton RKO’d the ref, and then Rhodes low blowed Orton. McAfee came running down from the ramp with a ref shirt on and tried helping Orton win the match, but got RKO’d by Orton as well.
Rhodes would go on to cross Rhodes Orton and retain the title as the champ. Orton was not happy, and as Cody was standing tall, with his title, Orton would take him out again, hit him with the title, and punt kick Rhodes, leaving him bloody and helpless in the middle of the ring.
I rank this match an 8.5/10.
Night 2
This match was the most looked forward to match of the whole weekend. Brock Lesnar is known as the beast in the WWE. The unstoppable monster that can destroy anything in its path, each Monday Night Raw, Oba has put him in his place.
The match was a perfect way to start this electric night 2 of WrestleMania. Brock would go on to try to take Oba down, but Oba would brush off Brock’s hits. Brock ran off the ropes, and Oba dropped him immediately. Lesnar was stunned, and he was shocked at what happened. Brock would get back in the fight and hit Oba with suplexs and hit Oba with his finisher, the F5.
Oba got up slowly, almost unfazed, picked up Brock for his own finisher, Fall from Grace, and laid the beast out for the 3 count. Oba was stunned. He just slayed the beast; Oba got his WrestleMania moment, and the crowd absolutely loved it.
Brock sat in the middle of the ring, took his gloves and boots off, and started crying. It seems as though the beast has retired from the WWE. The crowd erupted with THANK YOU BROCK! chants, and he slowly walked up the ramp and said thank you to the fans.
I rank this match a 9/10.
Intercontinental Championship Ladder Match: Penta (c) vs. Je’Von Evans vs. Rusev vs. Dragon Lee vs. JD McDonagh vs. Rey Mysterio
This match was a full highlight reel. We will be talking about this match each time a title is on the line in a later match. All of the guys had their time to shine in this match, and they each got their mania moment.
Young guys like Jevon Evans and Dragon Lee got to show off their skills, and older guys like Rusev and Rey Mystero got to show what they can still bring to the table.
There were so many spectacular moments in this match that talking about it doesn’t do it justice. You have to watch the highlight video.
I rank this match a 10/10.
(c) Sami Zayn vs Trick Williams
A lot of fans were not happy that this was the match we were getting. Sami Zayn had beaten Carmelo Hayes two weeks before Wrestlemania. Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams have a great history with each other because they used to be tag partners, and that match would have been a huge deal for the WrestleMania stage.
Trick Williams was the fan favorite to win this match because everyone loves his theme song, and his smack talk is on another level. A lot of people turned on Zayn because of the whole situation of him taking the spotlight from Hayes.
Trick Williams would go on to win this match and leave the fans cheering. It’s safe to say that WWE made the right call putting the title on Trick Willy.
I rank this match a 7/10.
Street Fight: “Demon” Finn Balor vs Dominik Mysterio
On the pre-show, WWE had announced that this match would be a street fight between the two guys. Balor hasn’t done his “Demon” persona since Wrestlemania in 2023 against Edge.
This match stood out to me because I’ve always been a fan of Balor, and it was really cool for him to bring his persona back. It felt like the perfect time because Mysterio had kicked Balor out of his group. There were a bunch of good table spots and big moments that made the crowd erupt with cheers. Balor would end up coming out as the winner as he took down his former friend.
I rank this match an 8/10.
WWE Women’s Championship: (c) Jade Cargill vs. Rhea Ripley
This match was a power vs power match as well as a great showing for both of the girls. They both had a chance to show who they were.
Rhea had the crowd behind her the whole match, and Jade had the crowd booing her every move, so she’s doing a great job being a heel.
Jade had help from Michin and B-Fab trying to cost Ripley the match, but Ripley’s longtime friend Iyo Sky came out and took out Michin and B-Fab, opening the door for Rhea to take the upper hand and hit Cargill with her finisher and end Cargill’s reign as the champ.
I rank this match a 6/10.
World Heavyweight Championship: (c) CM Punk vs. Roman Reigns
This feud was the perfect way to end the amazing WrestleMania weekend. From the start of the match, Reigns looked undeniable. He controlled the pace of the match just like how he likes to do, and his heavy strikes really took a toll on Punk. Punk had to take the role of surviving the blows and show his resiliency. Reigns would knock Punk down and absolutely take him out, but each time Reigns thought he had ended it, Punk found a way to fight back and stay in the fight.
Reigns would go for his finishing move, the spear, and Punk countered it by kicking him, lifting Reigns for a gts, and it connected. The crowd thought it was over, and so did I, but Reigns still had some fight in him.
Reigns got Punk caught up on the ropes, and he kept hitting him with a superman punch. He hit him with the steel steps, which would eventually bust Punk open in his head, and he would start bleeding everywhere. Roman picked Punk up after he fell to the ground and power bombed Punk through the table.
Later on in the match, Punk got Roman onto the other announcer’s table, got up into the top rope, and took a high-risk move to jump off and drive Reigns through the table.
The two guys would go back in the ring, and they kept trash-talking each other, and they kept punching each other as both of the guys were visibly gassed. They got back on their feet, and Reigns started running towards the ropes and got some speed and speared Punk in half. He covered punk immediately as the ref counted to three. This was a perfect way to cap off Mania. I think we all wanted Reigns to beat Punk because we miss when Reigns ran the WWE at the top.
I rank this match a 10/10.
