According to Our Story – Dave’s Hot Chicken, Dave’s Hot Chicken was first established in Los Angeles, California. It began as a small pop-up in an East Hollywood parking lot. Dave and his childhood best friends, Arman, Tommy and Gary, started the small pop-up with just $900. They were not expecting to soon turn this small business into a huge food chain with over 300 locations. 

We decided to take a trip down to Coon Rapids, MN to try out Dave’s Hot Chicken. We have heard great reviews about this restaurant and wanted to try this out for ourselves. We were excited to see if the food lived up to the hype, especially because a lot of people said the chicken was really flavorful and had the perfect amount of spice. When we arrived, the place was not too busy, but as time went on it got super busy. 

The menu had so many options to choose from. The menu had different spice levels, sides, and combo meals, which made it a little hard to decide what to get. They had everything from mild chicken to very spicy chicken, along with fries, mac and cheese, and drinks, so there was something for everyone.

Addie got the number 1, that included 2 chicken tenders with fries, along with sliced bread, pickles, and Dave’s sauce. Addie also got a cup of pickles with a mozzarella stick.

Rylee got the small loaded fries, which has melted cheese, chicken, kale, pickles, and Dave’s sauce. Rylee also wanted to get a mozzarella stick with a side of pickles. 

When we picked up our food, the staff were super nice. They made sure we had everything we needed (sauces, utensils, etc). They also got our order ready quickly, and the restaurant was very clean and organized. The workers had a good attitude and made the experience even better. 

When we both bit into our food, our mouth was filled with so much flavor. The chicken was well seasoned, along with the french fries. The chicken was crispy and everything else tasted hot and fresh. We both were not expecting for the food to be so good, especially for being a fast food restaurant.  

We both will definitely make the trip back down to Coon Rapids, Mn to have Dave’s hot chicken again! We both highly recommend that everyone tries it soon. The food was great, the service was friendly, and the whole experience was worth the drive. It was a fun little roadtrip, and we would go back again anytime.
