Over this weekend, President Donald Trump and the U.S. military carried out a series of air strikes on the country of Iran.
According to Donald Trump, the main reason behind these strikes was to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons, destroy its Navy, and put an end to the terrorism and destabilization in the Middle East. The U.S. launched hundreds of missiles at Iran, one missile hitting a primary school, which killed around 150 school children. The U.S. military, on the other hand, has had very few casualties, with four troops killed and three jets shot down by accidental friendly fire by Kuwait.

During these strikes, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed. Along with Khamenei’s death, over 200 people have killed, and over 700 have been injured, according to the Iranian Red Crescent. Khamenei had been the President of Iran during the majority of the 1980s before becoming the Supreme Leader in 1989. Khamenei’s wife also died of her injuries today, one day after Khamenei.
Israel launched their own attack along with the U.S.’s, focusing their attacks on the city of Tehran. At the time of the publication of this article, attacks are still going strong, and for the third consecutive day, the attacks show no signs of stopping.
