With winter sports coming to an end, spring sports are slowly beginning to start up. Here is some information on what to expect this year from your Sartell Track and Field team.
There are many events in high school track and field. The on-the-track events consist of 4 relays (4×1, 4×2, 4×4, 4×8), sprinting events (100m, 200m, 400m, 800, 1 mile, 2 miles), and two hurdling events (1oomh, 300mh). For the field events, there are two throwing events: discus and shotput. There is also pole vault, and three jumping events: high jump, long jump, triple jump).
Sartell has many great athletes in the track program, last year Sartell sent both the girls’ and boys’ 4×4 relays to the State track meet. As well as one athlete for boys’ discus, one girl triple jumper, two boys’ high jumpers, one girl 400m runner, as well as one girl 100m runner and two girls’ 200m runners.

She was a state qualifier last year for the 100m, 200m, and 4×4 and is looking to make a return this year. This sophomore holds the school record for the fastest 200m dash ever run at Sartell with a time of 25.68s. Sienna is also in the top ten for the 100m and 400m. She is also a part of the school record 4×4 and 4×2 relays. Sienna’s goals in track this year are to make it to state finals in her 100m and 200m and make it to state in the 4×1.
She is a senior captain this year and is aiming to end her season on a high note. Cami competes in the 300m hurdles, which is her main event, as well as the 4×1 and 100m dash. Cami made it as far as section finals last year, nearly making it to state. This year she wants to go even further. Cami’s personal record (PR) of 48.08s in the 300m hurdles earned herself the #6 spot of all time in Sartell’s record books. Cami wants to make it to the Hamline Elite Meet this year in her 4×1 relay.
She joined the track team last year and made her first season a special one. Mollie is also on the 4×4 and 4×2 record relays and competed in the 200 at last year’s state track meet. Mollie is looking to improve and break more records this year. Her personal goal for herself is to go to state and also in her 4×1.

Johnny is a junior captain athlete in the track program and, like Mollie, joined last year. Johnny runs the 100m and 200m, and is on the boys’ 4×1 relay. Johnny has the #10 spot of all time for the 100m dash with a time of 11.28s. Johnny made it to the section finals last year and is hoping to make it even farther this year and go to state. Johnny’s goal this year for track is to go to state, break the school’s 4×1 record, and be top three of all time in the 100m and 200m. His favorite thing about track is the time in between or after races with his friends.
Peter is one of the top throwers at Sartell as a junior. He competes in both shotput and discus and is on the top ten all-time list of freshmen for Sartell in the shotput event with a throw of 38ft and 10in when he was a freshman. Peter is a junior this year and wants to make his season last as long as possible by placing high in sections and section finals, possibly earning himself a chance at the state meet this year. Peter’s goal in track this year is to get better and continue to make new friends.
Landyn competes in the 100m, 200m, and is on the boys’ 4×100 relay. Landyn is a captain this year and is on the top 10 list of all time, being 2nd of all time in the 100m with a time of 11.07 and 2nd of all time in the 200 with a 22.46s.
This year in Sartell Track and Field is going to be a good one. Even though last year’s state participants were very senior-heavy, there is much young talent in Sartell to repeat their state participation.
