Your Sartell boys’ soccer team had a long season this year, making it to the State Tournament for the first time in a decade, beating Tech in the Section Final.

The boys’ soccer team for Sartell has had an amazing season, beating STMA for the first time in the school’s history. This team is primarily composed of juniors, with only four seniors: Graham Huse, Lincoln Nordby, Nate Gjemse, and Seth Johnson on the varsity team, then including Elric Bonivet and Ryan Springer on the JV team. They have had their hands full with plenty of wins this season, and they were looking to add more wins as they advanced to the state tournament.

This team has been playing together for a while, from the club season in the summer to the current school season in the fall. Even though the Sabres lost a full roster of seniors last year, this young team has held its own this season, earning CLC Champs for the third year in a row.
The first section game this year took place on October 9th, this last Wednesday. Your Sabres started off strong with a banger freekick from Junior Lucas McGee, then followed up with a top right goal from Sophomore Mo, and a header by Ben Marushin. In the second half, they kept adding on with another goal from McGee and one from Junior Cole Davidson.

Then, the boys kicked off against Roccori for the semifinal section game, the number 1 seed in their section. The Sabres had lost to the Spartans the last time they played them, 0-3, so the Sabres were out for revenge. The game started off equal, with neither team scoring a goal. It wasn’t until later in the half that Lucas Mcgee was able to find the back of the net to make it 1-0. The score stayed that way all the way to the end, resulting in the Sabres taking home the win and moving on to the section finals.
Finally, in the section finals, the whole team showed out with amazing effort from every member. The team was tied 1-1 with St.Cloud Tech and went into overtime. Both teams were fighting hard, but it was an own goal by Tech off a cross from Juinor Sabre, Sam Thompson, that led the Sabres to victory.
The final game for the Sabres took place on Wednesday, October 22nd. Your Sabres came out strong, dominating the game and getting many shots on net against Northfield. But both teams wanted to extend their season and were pushing as hard as they could. It came down to the final seconds with a controversial goal that led the Northfield team to a win, ending the Sabres’ 2025 season.
