The Minnesota Timberwolves offseason moves this summer hope to take them back to the WCF once again.
The Minnesota Timberwolves headed into this offseason looking to re-sign key players, draft the future of their team, and keep their current roster happy. They have done a good job accomplishing that this summer and hope the moves they made pay off this winter.
Minnesota’s draft was unique as they drafted to foreign players who both play the same position. Most sports networks and analysts such as NBC Sports graded the Timberwolves draft as a B. Lots of them liked the pick of Beringer because of his upside and potential but also were not sure about the talent he currently obtains. And as for Rocco Zikarsky, there is a general consensus that he will not make a major impact in the NBA but could become a valuable player providing bench minutes and a good interior presence. Rocco will spend split time next season on the Iowa Wolves and Minnesota Timberwolves.
While the Timberwolves organization did their best to get back what they could they still suffered some losses to the team. As like every other NBA team in free agency, they have a plan to fill the holes of what they may have lost. We won’t be able to see these plans until the start of the NBA season but what we can do is make assumptions on what we think they will do to fill those holes. The common theory to fill the void of defensive standout Nickeil Alexander-Walker is incoming second year wing Terrance Shannon Jr. Shannon appeared in 32 regular season games for the Wolves last year and averaged 4 points and 1.5 rebounds while getting 10 minutes a game. These stats may seem fairly lackluster but the reason he is expected to play next year is because of his two double digit scoring nights in the Western Conference Finals facing off against the future champion, OKC Thunder. The Wolves are also expected to increase the role of year 2 guard Rob Dillingham.
With the purchase of the Lynx, the new group of owners also owns the current best team in the WNBA lead by forward Napheesa Collier. The Lynx hold a 34-10 record which is the best in the league by 4 games with the next best team being the Las Vegas Aces sitting at 30-14.
