President Trump recently signed an executive order in coalition with Christian leaders, standing up for religious freedoms and beliefs.
On May 1, he released his plans for this new religious commission in a speech during a designated ‘National Day of Prayer’ at the White House.
Trump noted that the commission’s chairman will be Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick of Texas.
The Executive Order stated that the Commission will examine the history of religious freedom in America, evaluate current threats to this freedom, and push to enhance these rights for Americans.
Some issues they will cover include parents’ rights in education when it comes to religion, and school choice. They will also address problems where places of worship have been attacked, and push for freedom of speech for religious organizations.
A fact sheet from the executive order said that the leaders of this liberty commission will be from diverse backgrounds in religion. Members of Religious Organizations, experts in the legal field, and advocates for the public and education will also lead this freedom coalition.
These leaders will work alongside the White House to develop legislation in order to enhance religious liberties.
A notable member of the commission will be TV sensation and author Dr. Phil (whose legal name is Phillip McGraw).
Paula-White Cain, Phillip McGraw, and Dan Patrick accompanied President Trump and other religious leaders at the National Day of Prayer in the Rose Garden at the White House. Cain, McGraw, Patrick, Trump, and others spoke at the event.
In Patrick’s speech, he declared that Trump had saved the American Faith. Patrick also noted that he believes this Religious Liberty Commission will be one of the most important in our nation’s history.
Trump is focused on removing the anti-Christian rhetoric in America. In order to combat the hate on religion, he started the Faith Office in Washington and a task force in the Department of Justice (DOJ).
