Backshed Brewery has quickly become a favorite among the people of central Minnesota. Siblings Jason Schlecht, Scott Schlecht and Jennifer Schlecht Peterson started the idea as just a fun hobby, but it quickly turned into something bigger. Backshed was first opened to the public in 2021, sharing an establishment with Crafts Direct, prior to their closing.
Due to the recent purchase of the establishment by a new Christian school, Backshed will have to give up their building. The business went out with a bang this past Saturday at their closing event. The event was held from 11 a.m. to midnight. They offered live music, oven-baked pizza via food truck, different beer tastings, and bingo.
The closing event had an extraordinary turnout, and highlighted how much this company will be missed.
Backshed Brewery is unsure of what this new chapter will hold for them. They are faithful that this will not be the end of their business. Schlecht is looking into a new location, but noted that construction would need to be done and that the process may be long.
The beloved Backshed will be remember by so many in the community, and will be remembered as a honorable business.
