Background on Lacrosse Team
The Sartell Lacrosse team began in 2016 as the Storm’n Sabres as one of the high school’s sport programs. From 2016 to now, the fast moving field sport has continued to find popularity among students. The team now holds a 7-8 record from last season, losing to Moorhead in the section semifinals. Despite the record, the team was very competitive.

Over the last season, Tron Trondson took over as head coach. The Storm’n Sabres were able to beat teams such as St. Cloud in the second half of the season, and Brainerd 15-7 in the section playoffs. The players had great individual seasons as well.
Dylan Smith began his first year as the varsity starter as a goalie and earned all-section honors.
Mason Anderson also won team MVP playing the offensive side of the ball with 29 goals and 33 assists for a team-high 62 points. Additionally, the Storm’n Sabres clinched the 4th seed in section playoffs. This was the first time in the history of the program the Storm’n Sabres hosted a playoff game. With the next upcoming season, the team is currently hosting a fundraiser for team expenses in the future.

On February 24th 2025, the Schoolfundr website launched the fundraiser for Sartell-Sauk Rapids Boys Lacrosse Program. The fundraiser was able to gain $6000 on the first day. The website Schoolfundr is a donation platform built for teachers, coaches, and students and allows teams to keep 100% of their donations raised. The process for this website is each student creating a profile and uploading 20 or more emails of friends, family, relatives, colleagues, etc. Schoolfundr will then send a total of five emails to these uploaded contacts for three weeks. Schoolfundr also provides ways to connect to social media outlets for further exposure.
Additionally, the website will track the amounts of donations received from a student and the team’s donation goal. There is a leaderboard showcasing the top donors on the team. The team is looking to raise donation goals in an effort to raise money for meals, travel expenses, field and dome rental fees, and field and uniform equipment. The team is getting closer to their goal and has earned many donations. Additional Schoolfundr information can be found on the about of Schoolfundr.
